My Ding A Ling
When I was a little bitty boy
My grandmother bought me a cute little toy.
Silver bells hanging on a string,
She told me it was my ding a ling a ling.

Oh, my ding a ling, my ding a ling,
I want you to play with my ding a ling.
My ding a ling, my ding a ling,
I want you to play with my ding a ling.

And then mama took me took me to grammar school,
But I stopped off in the vestibue.
Every time that bell would ring,
Catch me playing with my ding a ling a ling.

Oh, my ding a ling, my ding a ling,
I want you to play with my ding a ling.
My ding a ling, my ding a ling,
I want you to play with my ding a ling.

Once I was climbing the garden wall.
I slipped and had a terrible fall.
I fell so hard I heard bells ring,
But held on to my ding a ling.

Oh, my ding a ling, my ding a ling,
I want you to play with my ding a ling.
My ding a ling, my ding a ling,
I want you to play with my ding a ling.

Once I was swimming across turtle creek,
Man, them snappers all around my feet.
Sure was hard swimming across that thing
With both hands holding my ding a ling.

Oh, my ding a ling, my ding a ling,
I want you to play with my ding a ling.
My ding a ling, my ding a ling,
I want you to play with my ding a ling.

This here so song, it ain't so sad.
The cutest little song you ever had.
Those of you who will not sing,
You must be playing with your own ding a ling.

Oh, my ding a ling, my ding a ling,
I want you to play with my ding a ling.
My ding a ling, my ding a ling,
I want you to play with my ding a ling.

Your ding a ling, your ding a ling,
We saw you playing with your ding a ling.
My ding a ling, everybody sing,
I want to play with my ding,
Everybody, my ding a ling,
Oh my ding a ling,
I want to play with my ding a ling.

That IS a great song. They had a kid singing it for a talent show on Simpsons. He got as far as the 1st chorus before Princple Skinner "yanked him off" stage. { =^ )

Brilliant, brilliant musician...

Loves the ladies and is somewhat difficult but what an innovator! Remember his duck walk? Also, remember when he chewed out Keith Richards in the documentary? Keith looked like he was about ready to cry. LOL

Last I heard, he was still touring from his car.

Nope, he plays at his restaurant in ST Louis quite often. His son works with me in IT.

I've always thought that that particular song was Hillarious!! I also enjoyed the Documentry that was done a few years back. I like Chuck Berry's music a lot! Bassdude, you must really hear some great stories about Chuck Berry working with his son. What a privilige!

Chuck Berry the king. When I was in High School in the locker room we used to play Chuck's LPs. These were large round things we played on a record player. One verse from a song sticks in my pea brain and the verse goes something like this. Now I can't sing so be kind.

We boggyed in the kitchen
We boggyed in the hall
I got some on my hand so I wiped it on the wall

Whick song is this from and I wonder if I could buy the CD.

What you remembered is the risqué version of Reelin' And Rockin' that came from the American Hot Wax (1978)soundtrack. I have the LP but I don't know if it is still or ever was on CD.

Common bass, throw us a bone.
We need at least one good story.

In all honesty he does not like to talk about his Dad. He prefers for folks not even to know. But if he sees ya at a concert you get moved to VIP seating.

This was Chuck Berry's only song to reach #1 on the charts. X

I saw him perform at Disney World.

He prefaced this song with, "They told me not to play this song, BUT..."

Sure enough...they cut the power. The entire crowd sang with him and we were louder than he was with amplification. The Disney employees not wanting to cause a riot or bring more attention to the scene decided to put the power back on if we'd stop singing so loudly and "ruining the guests time in the park"!

After they turned the power back on Chuck would break into a few chords of "My Ding-A-Ling" to rouse us and I thought it was the funniest joke a musician could pull.

Man, I love that old song. I remember hearing it on the radio as a little kid in the 60s and laughing my head off. What a funny tune!
