I have a friend coming from Australia who bought me some cigars, supposedly cubans, and she said they are in aluminum tubes. I dont yet know the brand, but I am doubtful of their authenticity because of the tubes. Anyone help me with this?

I had a friend come back with 4 cubans in tubes, two montecristos and two RyJ, but the montecristo tube has the logo of the non cuban brand.. so Im not quite sure, never really thought about it before someone mentioned it

Many do, I see them in England all the time, the tubes usually stay in England with the bands.....

at least these do. montecristo Tubos, punch Petit Coronations, romeo and julieta Churchills en Tubo and
romeo and julieta Romeo #1. others probably, though don't get overwhelmed by the cuban mystique.

Had a Punch Petite Coronation recently (yes, in an aluminum tube)...Probably a machine made Punch...Very good though!...Reminded me of a Monte #4...Definite Caramel overtones...Mild but flavorful...A very good stick...Also had a Flor De Cano petite corona in a tube...Good but not nearly as good as the Punch

Just remember ... no matter what anyone else tells you, 95% of all Cubans are counterfeit ... or if you do find the stuff that's real, is usually green.

slimboli: i have never had a counterfit since i bought some junk in cabo. mine are fresh. but frankly they cost too much, and they are overrated. dr puts out cigars that are better than the cubans. years ago la finca was rated second only to some off the wall cuban. cuba's cigars have gotten worse and la finca is still excellent. a box of grand fincas, which i like to smoke when i am hitting the slots in vegas because people stay away from toby and i, are 8 1/2 x 52, a two hour smoke, and you can still get a box of 25 for about $30.00. the joyas (size) 6 x 50 were the ones that got a 91 before ca became the lady's home journal for men. same price.

Yes they do.............I have been given and bought R&J's that do on several occassions. In fact I have an R&J now in the tube awaiting my anniversary on the 27th of this month.

Have to agree; almost all Cuban's that I've tried have not been worth the price paid (in Montreal, +/- $25 US for a Cohiba Robusto, ouch), but the upside... glass half full vs. empty... is that if it comes in an aluminum tube and tastes like pencil shavings (slightly woody taste if you're diplomatic - lol) you at least get a small momento for your money. One that was rather nice - Cuaba, new as far as Cubans go, +/- $10 US - would recommend these

My neighbor is Cuban. He and his wife have been trying to have a baby for about 2 years now. They have gone to several fertility specialist. I asked him and he said all the tubes they use are glass.....

Interesting... I bought some "Cuban" R&J in Honduras and saved the tube and band since it was the first real cigar I ever had (Swisher Sweets don't count). Later I ran across the pictures of counterfeit bands at Cigar Aficionado's site and sure enough it must've been counterfeit... but it was still pretty good =)
