I smoked one of these Bauza Pyramids fresh out of the box when I bought them around six or seven years ago, and was not impressed. It was harsh, and I did not like it. So, I put them down for a long rest.

Well, I am now enjoying this well constructed torpedo. A chestnut brown wrapper, with perhaps the slightest touch of reddish hue. Several thin veins, one protruding just a tiny bit through the wrapper. Excellent roll and draw. A tiny bit of an uneven burn, but not enough to cause any problem.

I would say a medium body, and that nice creamy, buttery texture of smoke that I look for in a good cigar. Very nice flavor mix of bakery spice and exotic nuts, of which I detect a very unique delicious hint of pistachio, one of only a very few cigars in which I have ever noticed this flavor. Add some undertones of bread, cocoa, coffee and fruits, and it all adds up to an outstanding smoking experience.

I recommend trying one, but I must suggest significant extra humidor time after purchase.

I have one or two stashed away for a couple of years! I too wasn't impressed with them OTT, or several months after. I'll have to revisit them.

Thanks for the review

Smoked one of these I received in a PIF last summer. Had yellow cello and smelled great. It smoked even better, even on a breezy day on the lake. Great flavor, tons of creamy smoke. One of the better well aged cigars I have had.

I had a couple of these about 10-11 years ago and thought they weren't too bad without the aging.

I've had about 6-7 of these over the years some great some not so great. Maybe the aging theory on these is true.

Today is Feb, 26, 2021 I’m smoking a Bauza #2 I purchased in 2005. This has really become a GREAT mild/med smoke. Almond, Pistachio, Cream Oak, Medium roast coffee, Nutmeg, Cocoa. A Very nice smoke. The spice and pepper is gone. Not the same cigar it was when new. The smoke matured quite nicely. About half way through the body picks up and it becomes a truly wonderful experience.
For reference I smoked a CAO Mortal Coil just before the Bauza.
