Actually, we did NOT win independence "ourselves" ... while it may sound strange today in view of their total anti-American stance, France was our ally, without whose help we would not have beat the English.
Ergo, the reason for Gen. John J. Pershings' now-famous quote ("Layfayette, we are here") at the time US forces landed in France during WWI ...

Your request just isn't feasible or in our best interest. We are making progress, yes we have sacrificed much, trust me I know first hand. If the media were to show you some of the positives that I have seen and participated in, you wouldn't feel as you do. Believe me when I say there is an agenda at work. It saddens me to see it, but it's real.

Here is one example.

When I went to Iraq in January of 2003 to fight in An Nas and eventually clear through to Al Kut the area along the Euprates from that region north to the Sunni Triangle was a baren waste land. Saddam had cut off all the irrigation to the people there because they supported the coalition during Dessert Storm, which I also participated in. The estimates I heard and baised on my observation indicate that he starved between 300,000 to 400,000 people to death not counting those he had exterminated.

As we left there this September that area was flurishing with green and food was once again growing. There are thousands of Date Palms and Fig orchards and the people are irrigating and building for the fist time in nearly 15 years.

We sacrificed the same way to take out an evil dictator in WW II would you have let the Jews all be exterminated and set back and watched while Hitler slowly took over all of Europe?

Nearly 75% of the military support not only the war but our Commander In Chief. See the new addition of the Marine Times for the military survey that was just completed. It's a no spin matter of fact way to find out exactly how we feel.

When you see a disgruntled member of the military on TV whinning it's not the norm, trust me. The media look long and hard to find these people to push thier agenda, but it's not ours.

I appreciate your concern, but feel your a little misguided in your haste for a speedy withdraw. We don't bargain or barter with terrorist, we exterminate them.

if memory serves me, the french blocked the shipping lanes to prevent the british from sending in more troops and equipment. i don't recall the french sending in troops to fight our battel.

i've done a search and can find an alliance with france but no mention of them sending frenchmen into battle for us. i can find mentions of french generals advising washington and his generals.

suppose, just suppose, lbj had declared victory and pulled our troops out and left the south vietnamese to deal with the north. we would have what we have now, the north taking over the country.

I cannot recall who took out Iran's nuclear site last time. I remember in 1981 when Israeli F-15s and F-16s attacked and destroyed Iraq's nuclear site.
