There's more to this article if anyone wants a copy. I find it interesting that the Guard & Reserve are slightly more supportive of Bush than active duty and those that were activated or effected most by Bush's decisions (meaning those of us who were living normal lives that were screeched to halt by getting activated) are the most supportive of Bush at 76%. Wow!!!

And if Kerry gets elected he will institute a draft for this simple reason.. All of these volunteers will refuse to re-up when their time comes, and he won't have anybody to fight for us but the french and we know what that will lead to
So if you are truly against the draft you should be against kerry

You confuse personal preference with professional obligation. There was no mass joining in the services when bush came on board and there won't be a mass exodus when he leaves. Presidents come and go but the services carry on.

We never had to fight global terroism on such a scale before and who would want to fight with a communist sympathizing UN bowing traitor in charge

I can't believe you have such a low opinion of our service people. That they would leave in a time of need because of whom the CiC is. Speaking for myself, I didn't join to serve Richard Nixon, I joined to serve the country.

About the loading......that has happened with AMERICAN generals already and look what it got us.

Yes, they too joined to serve the country ... but they prefer a real leader who has some backbone ... not a weakling like Kerry whom they know spent more time filming recreations of his "heroics" in 'Nam than in actual action ... whose traitorous actions following his 120 day tour of duty in 'Nam are well documented ... who's had a record of voting 100% of the time to NOT support the military ... who as President, would cave in to the opinions of the French ... and whom, if the US were to be attacked again as we were in 2001, would be more likely to go to the UN and and ask the members to deplore the actions of the attackers instead of DOING something about it ...

My 2¢ worth:

As an Active Duty Army Sergeant with many years in, I would prefer to continue to serve under our present Commander in Chief. Kerry just plain bothers me...3 Purple Hearts?? C'mon!! One or two I can see, but three seems to indicate he doesn't have the sense to come in out of the rain of bullets.

President Bush does have the tendedency to seem less intelligent than some, but lets be honest..a man doesn't reach his position if he's really the idiot that the media would like us to think he is.

Kerry at first condemned Bush for failing to find WMD...now that they've found that several hundred tons of explosives have disappeared, Bush is at fault for not securing them. So what is he argueing? "You should have known the weapons weren't there, and should have kept anyone else from getting their hands on them?"

I know that doesn't make sense...that's my point.

I won't leave the Army if Kerry is elected. My loyalty is to my country, and my Army - regardless of who is CinC. I have to trust the others serving near the top of the food chain to keep the President from doing anything seriously stupid.

A tad late for that wouldn't you say?

AVB, you do recall how many military hung up their spurs after GW I and before Clinton took office do you not? do not try and sugar coat this.. I have heard many talk about getting out if Kerry is to be elected... Especially Guard and Reserve... They to Love their country and their commitment to their country... but allot of them know how it was when Clinton was in the Whitehouse for 8 yrs...They know if Kerry gets their all the benefits that Bush and company have gained for them will be cut back... and thus I can see why above the G&R ratings are higher then AD...

Nope...I think we neede to get Saddam out...WMD or no. the Pres was just finishing the job his father left undone.

My opinion is that once you send in troops...the diplomats and "tactful negotiations" have failed. If we're going in, let us go in and don't pull us out until the job's done. Trust us, give us the equipment and supplies that we need, and the mission will be accomplished.

That, IMO, is a purely eloquent description of what was wrong in Vietnam and what could go wrong now ... those who are our enemies learned the lessons of Vietnam better than many of us did ... they KNOW we're going to quibble about equipping and supporting our troops (Kerry sure hasn't diappointed them there, with his record of voting 100% AGAINST the military) and they are quite sure that we'll quickly become internally so divided that we will not pursue victory with single-minded purpose (and again, Kerry is prime evidence that they might be right) ...

In my view, we are at a critical junction ... none of us know for sure where the journey will take us, but we SHOULD know from experience that the road Kerry will take us down is fraught with peril and will NOT take us where we need to go.

I sincerely fear for the future of this country and our way of life if are foolish enough to elect him.

I was on active duty at the end of GWB Sr's Presidency. Fortunatuly, I had enough time in to be able to retire after Desert Storm. There was a mass exit of the military at that time, because we knew that Clinton was going to dismantle the military, and it would go back to the way it was in the early 70's. We were training with "fantom" soldiers. What does that mean? It means that we didn't have the personnel nor the equipment to do effective training. You were on a FTX (field training exercies), sitting in a 2 man foxhole in a defensive position, with a stick figure as your partner in the foxhole. You didn't have enough ammo to train with properly, so you were lucky if you got to qualify with your weapon once a year. And that was just the Army. The Navy, when they had ships going out on patorl, they had minimal ammo & equipment in their stores. They had to link up with the incomming fleet and cross deck ammo, supplies and equipment from the incoming ships to the outgoing ships because of "budgeary cuts."

So, yah, I'm pretty apprehensive to see Flip-Flop Kerry get into office. He's screwed enough things up for this country being in the Senate. How he keeps getting elected (just like Kennedy) is beyond me.

I went from Nixon to the beginning of little george and I never saw a mass exodus. People left, new ones showed up. If they were short of bodies then the pay would have to go up to attract new ones.

Maybe the difference between the Corps and your branch came into play.

I usually disagree with AVB on politics, but I agree with him on this point, I took an oath to defend my country, and that oath was NOT dependant upon who was at the top of my CoC (Chain of Command, get yer mind outta the gutter!)! I'll be here for another euight years whether I'm working for Bush (I hope) or Kerry (please God, NO!) I served my first eight years under Clinton, I guess I can stand the stench awhile longer if it comes to that, but if the American people elect Kerry, they will get what they deserve! We can only straighten out so many messes, and we still aint caught up on twenty-some-odd years of not following up on threats and convincing our potential enemies that we really wont do anything to avenge an attack. If we back off now, right in the big middle of this, we will be the biggest joke in history. The people Kerry says he wants to regain the respect of were dealing under the table with Iraq, and if Saddam sent a Nuke to Times Square with a return address on it they STILL wouldn't have approved of our invasion, because they were rolling in the money from the illicit trade! Unless and until that little fact gets acknowledged and accepted, any viewpoint taken will be slanted and skewed and any decisions based upon it will be wrong.
