Hello BOTL's,
OK, we got some good feedback from the first try, and now I'm ready for Smokin' Trivia II. This time we will have 3 rounds. 10 people will advance to round 2, 5 people will go on to round 3 out of which a winner will be declared.

Here are the rules:
1. I will post the questions on the forum. The number of questions and the topics are at my discretion.

2. First 10 people to email all the correct answers in a single email (Please use subject line "Smokin' Trivia") will advance to RND2. If after 5 days from posting of questions I do not have 10 people with correct answers, then the people with the most correct will advance as well. Player must post that email was sent so that I may contact you if I did not receive your answers (please remember this is for fun, and I am not responsible for any lost emails, I will be as fair as I can regarding undelivered emails). Please DO NOT POST THE ANSWERS OR YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. Any postings other than the answers are encouraged.

3. I will check the emails as time allows and will respond in forum with the number of correct answers people get, but I will not say which are right or wrong.

4. ONLY ONE SET OF ANSWERS (ENTRY) PER PERSON PER ROUND.

5. Round 2 players will be posted here as soon as I have 10 players with all correct answers or after 5 days with players closest. In the event I get more than 10 players with all correct answers, (due to my inability to check emails promptly) I will advance players by checking the date and time received.

6. Round 2 will be played the same, with first 5 correct players going to round 3.

7. Round 3 will will be played as follows. All 5 participants will have 48 hours to respond with their answers. All 5 participants will include with their answers a number between 1-100. The player with the most correct answers and coming closest to a predetermined number will be declared the winner.

8. Spelling does not count as long as you are reasonably close, or unless it specifically states spelling counts.

9. All parts of multiple part answers MUST be correct for answer to be considered right. No half points.

10. Once I announce the winner please respond by email with your snailer.

11. Please direct any comments or suggestions to me at [email protected]

12. This is for fun only. I am willing to send out cigars to the winner for nothing in return, please keep it fun for all!!

one question...ace, billy, eyeball, and charlie are not the main characters of the movie...in fact they are not the protagonists, but rather the antagoninsts...do you want the names of the main characters and the actors who played them, or the actors who played the four mentioned? I'm going to send in all of them regardless to cover my a$$

btw...cool contest, the six degrees of seperation was difficult but I think I have it.

Seems the first time I had it too easy, now its too hard, you guys are hard to please. I'll havge to try and find some happy medium somewhere.

I had 2 responses so we will have to go straight to round 3 with Lukin and Mark. I'll return later today with the final questions but for now will go over the answers for the first round.

1) Barry Sanders rushed for over 1000 yards in each of his first ten seasons. Who was the first person to rush for over 1000 in each of his first 3 seasons and what team did he play for?
Answer : John Brockington Green Bay Packers 1971-1973. Where were you cheeseheads on that one? He was the first to do it his first 3 seasons, and unfortunately those were the only seasons he achieved that milestone. Lukin - 0 (Campbell did it but not the first) Mark - 0 (Brown fell 58 yards short his rookie season)

2) More football!! This season Jerry Rice, Tim Brown and Randy Moss all had their consecutive games streaks snapped for atleast 1 catch per game. Who is now the current leader as of the games played by Nov.29th ?
Answer: Marshall Faulk Lukin - 0 Mark - 1

3) Ichiro Suzuki, broke Geaorge Sislers 82 year old record for most hits in a season this year. Who's record did Sisler beat in 1920? How many hits was the record? and what year was the previous record set?
Answer: Ty Cobb 248 in 1911 Lukin - 1 Mark - 2

4) "Just beacause the f&%#*r's got a library card doesn't make him Yoda."
Name the Character, Actor, movie and year of release that quote was taken from.
Answer: David Mills, Brad Pitt, Seven, 1995
Lukin - 2 Mark - 3

5) Six degrees of Rock seperation. Fill in the blanks that will link the first name to the second name. Each blank will alternate between band name and a current or former band member. Here as an example of going from Eric Clapton to Blues Traveler.
EXAMPLE : Eric Clapton - Derek and the Dominoes - Duane Allman - Allman Brothers Band - Butch Trucks - Frogwings - John Popper - Blues Traveler (EC played in D & the D's of which DA was also a member. DA played in ABB of which BT was a member. BT played in Frogwings of which JP was a member. JP's a member of BT)
Answers: I accepted 2 possible answers as follows:

1. Jimmy Page -
A. Yardbirds (Band)
B. Jeff Beck
C. Jeff Beck (Band)
D. Ron Wood or Rod stewart
E. Rod Stewart (Band)
F. Pete Sears
-Jefferson Starship

OR
2. Jimmy Page -
A. The Firm (Band)
B. Tony Franklin
C. Blue Murder(Band)
D. Jon Sykes
E. Whitesnake(Band)
F. Aynsley Dunbar
-Jefferson Starship
I was originally looking for #2 as the answer since Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart I would consider more of solo acts without a band name or the lack of "band" , "group" or similar after their monikers, but since the question wasn't more concise I accepted either. Lukin - 3 Mark - 3 (Truth was the name of the Album, not the name of the artist)

6) In what movie did Ace, Billy, Charlie and Eyeball protagonize the young stars, and who played the group of main characters?
Answer: Stand By Me, Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell (Yes the question should have read "antagonist", I'll attribute the brain fart to being in a hurry to go smoke a Torano Exodus!! Lukin - 4 Mark - 4

7) What song was recorded and released by all of the following artists, Corey Stevens, Albert King, and Bryan Lee? Answer:Again 2 possible answers, Crosscut Saw or I'll Play The Blues For You. Lukin - 5 Mark - 5.

Congrats to you both and I'll be posting the next set of questions soon. I will email you both when that happens so you know to go check.

Now, this is something I had hoped would bring some thought and fun to the forum(not that there is a lack of either here, but just my contribution). Please post or email me with any more comments or suggestions on how to make it just that for you all as well as me.

Hey John, I love trivia so when I saw this thread I got all excited...until it came to the 6 degrees of separation thing. Hell, I have enough trouble coming up with that in my own family! LOL

But thanks for the game anyway.

The only one I knew was the "Stand By Me" question, so I didn't even try. I had no clue on the others.

No Mark...you have missed anything. You can say I have dropped the ball on this one. With the Holidays here, I haven't had much chance to research many new questions yet( you didn't think I held ALL the answers in my head already did you?). But you and Lukin are both in the running and I will post the next round here soon.
My apologies
John
