Is it O.K.to store boxes in the huminidor with the
wrapper, need your advise by answering yes or no.

You have a humidor with the wrapper? How do you fill it? Actually, unless you are keeping the boxes for gifts there is no reason to leave the cello on the box. Hey! Is this just a sneaky way to ask about cello on or off? Was that a pressed box...?

charlie for the boxes i use the 48Quarts iglo cooler with the 50/50 solution and a fan inside,yet i still cant get it to 70/70 eom

cello on or cello off applies to the individual cigars,even if i take the cello off the box,some
cigars are still indiviual wrapped,and you bet i dont unwrap the individuals to much work!lol

When storing full boxes in a cedar aging cabinet or cooler type container, it is not advisable to leave the cello on the box itself.

Most folks even open the lid a little and use the latch to hold it open. This will insure that humidity is getting to the cigars, and that they are aging properly.

I will not get into whether or not you should leave the cello on of off the cigar itself ... 😉

Hey guys, a related question: I've read many times a suggestion from a man, let's just call him "Lew", that says it's okay to store a wrapped box OUTSIDE of any humidified container or room for up to a month for aging purposes. Even though he must know what he's talking about, I've never personally done this. The wrap over the box often doesn't appear to be a good seal, and I'm afraid I'd open the box a month later to find a box full of dried twigs. Maybe I'd try it if I lived in a high-humidity area. Anyone out there stored boxes like this? Do they really come out okay? And if they do come out okay, what would be wrong with re-wrapping an opened box?

I have three cooler-dors at home. I keep the cigars however they come, wrappers on/off. I keep an oasis block (about 6"x3"x4") in a plastic bag always wet. No 50/50 solution and definitely no fan needed. My humidors are all between 70-72 and 68 deg. I have had these things for over 3 years as my storage for the boxes I pick up, and I transfer the cigars into my personal humidors as needed. I've smoked many right out of the cooler and all smoke fine. These things work well.

A guy I work with does that. He smokes 4 cigars a day and doesn't own a humidor! He leaves them in the box and puts the box in a zip-lock. He's been doing it for years. I guess if you smoke one brand and don't collect cigars it would be alright to do this, but your betting on your cigars being delivered properly humidified.

I agree w/ SLIM. Not that I've read it anywhere or anyone has told me so... but it seems to make sense to take off the cello, and prop open the lid slightly to get good circulation. When I transfer the sticks to my smaller humis, then I take the cello off of the sticks themselves.

you can't box age with the cello on the cigar. If you want to keep the cello on the cigar, there is no longer any reason to keep the cigars in the box. The Spanish cedor of most cigar boxes in my mind adds a bit of spiciness to cigars and the cigars mature and mellow by being boxed aged without the cello.

cellos on or off? i thought the cellos were for safe smoking so i leave them on while i smoke.

I suggest you take the cello off the box itself. As for the age old question of cello on or off the sticks themselves, I used to take them off, but I now keep them on (preserves the cigar better), BUT less chance of bloom.

I thought the whole idea was to age the cello?
