Either I live in an awfully reasonable area, cost-wise, for cigars, or else there's a lot of folks here paying a lot more than they need to for cigars. I live in southern New Jersey, right outside of Philadelphia, and I'd like a dime for every time I've seen bids that priced out considerably above the per stick price I'd pay if I stopped at one of the shops on my way home. If it's a regional pricing thing, well, not much you can do about that, you get the best price you can. But if it's a case of people just not having a clue, then more's the pity for those of us who do.

Don't bid on everything, and wait till the pricing is "in line", let them overpay if they are stupid enough. Charlie

Some do live in high tax states others are morons with to much money.

Both statements are true, but nobody has higher "sin" taxes than the Democratic Republic of California, the state that I live in and you won't catch me overbidding! Charlie

Delaware has pretty decent prices. Now if I could only find a half decent shop, I'd be set.

If you all would stop complaining about overbidders, and check their parent site CigarsInternational, you would see that most (not all) bids are under what they sell their stuff for at retail.

At the prices a lot of these bids are winning for ... it's a wonder they keep their auction site going. Believe it or not, they lose, or barely break even on a lot of the products they auction here.

Keith or Gonz, please correct me if I'm wrong ...

There's also the case where there are items that are just not available locally. But like anything else, you have to comparison shop and set a resonable limit to what you'll pay. Though I'm sure there are some cases where bid fever comes into play. Anyway, it's fun to sit back and watch some of the action.

Why is it we can not go a week without this assenine (sp?) ranting about overbidding? Its not money out of your pocket,so why do you care? Sometimes there are good reasons for it,some of which are listed here already. cj

Rick ... all it means, is that the author acknowledges the word preceding it may be spelled wrong ...
