MEPSTEAD, N.Y. - Did you hear the one about the two guys arrested for telling lawyer jokes?

These guys belong to a group called "Americans for Legal Reform"

Americans for Legal Reform monitors the courts and uses CONFRONTATIONAL tactics to push for greater access for the public. The pair said that for years they have stood outside courthouses on Long Island and mocked lawyers.

On Monday, however, one of them said he was due in court to answer a drunken driving charge from a year and a half ago. The men are due back in court on the disorderly conduct charge next month.

The told the jokes while standing in line to get into the building, and they did it in a loud, abusive way, and were asked several times to quiet down because they were causing a distubance.

They sort of remind me of religious zealots that stand and scream on a street corner while thumping a Bible. When the cops tell them to settle down, they cry religious freedom.

true story, I once had a confrontation with an attorney who worked for the state... he didn't like my biker jacket and bandana and started making wise cracks about harley riders and their gayish looking leather they wear.. the slobering drunkin SOB was lucky I had not been out to other bars, but rather just completed a Run to St. Louis and back to clear my head from all the BS that was going on in my life at the time... the bartender a good friend of mine and the owner of the bar was becoming a good friend... we, (bartender friend) and myself soon started cracking Lawyer Jokes to the point this guy was not only drunk and sluring his words he was in retort and was disclaiming he would call some of his associates and have us put in jail... to the extent he was getting so belligerent the owners wife told him to get the hell out before she had him tossed out... as he dressed himself in his coat and headed for the front entrance he rebuted he would file charges on the two of us in the morning... my retort was go ahead I'll press charges tonight before you get to your car for citizens arrest for drunken disoderly in a public setting... he STFU and left... never again did he have a problem and I had seen him on a couple of other occassion in that bar and brought up the issue to a look of cruel Intentions but never nothing said...

just as this thread started... the only person who was offended by these couple guys was the lawyer himself...

Freedoms are slowly being erroded away!!!!
