GUN FACTS

According to icasualties.org , there have been 88 hostile fire deaths caused by firearms since the beginning of hostilities in Iraq. The remainder of coalition deaths have been due to explosives or accidents.

What does this mean? If you consider that there have been an average of 160,000 troops in theater during the last 22 months, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000. The rate in DC is 80.6 per 100,000. That means that you are more likely to be shot and killed in our Nation's Capitol, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, than you are in Iraq.

The conclusion? Under the tactics of the left, we should immediately pull out of WASHINGTON, DC.

.....or instead of pulling out we should take a look at the socio-economic reasons for the high murder rates in America and try to fix them.

....I often live in a city 7 times the size of DC. Guns are illegal too, and last year the city had 1 (yes one) murder by gun. Not an American city I'll add.

Guns don't kill people.

People kill people. Guns are their tool.

Fear the government that fears your gun.

A man with a gun is a citizen; a man without, a slave. (or something similar)

it is the high velocity blunt force trauma that is caused by the bullet entering the body that kills people

When high velocity is outlawed only outlaws will have high velocity

that was a good one Jekyl....I really liked it. Had we all been sitting around a table smoking, and everyone was making their government comments, and you quietly said that, the room would have fell silent for 15 seconds while everyone tried to think up a comeback........then they would have threw beer at you.

Anyway, who wants to live in a country where you have to fear your Govt, and your Govt has to fear you? Aren't we trying to solve that problem right now for some middle eastern friends of ours?

Does a snub nosed 38 protect the citizen from his/her govt? Does it make it easier to take the life of a father of 5 for $50 bucks in his wallet?

I can protect my home with a rifle or shotgun just as easily as with a pistol......maybe pistols should be outlawed? Somebody is going to come up and say "well, then only the bad guys would have them." Yes, for a time that would be true, but eventually they would phase out, once we started hanging people for getting caught with one.

I'm all for it, not outlawing handguns, let's start hanging the felons that ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE FIREARMS IN THE 1st place, why do we need more laws when there are thousands on the books right now, that the criminal element ignores. That is probably why they are felons in the 1st place. at SOME point they probably ignored a law(s) that they should not have ignored!!!!

In the tribal regions of southwest Alaska, a region that relies on guns for hunting, pistols have been outlawed. Life goes on, but the killing of innocent human stops.

Yeah, because everyone knows you can't kill people with a shotgun or rifle.

Get real.

Guns are merely tools. What'll we outlaw next? Kitchen knives, because a wife stabbed her cheating husband with one?

Poverty does not cause crime.

A lack of values causes crime.

Many of the sweetest most decent people you know are the poorest.

This is one of the fundamental differences in left versus conservative thinking and why we don't understand each other.

Not to jack the thread BUT......

In Alaska, while hanging out in Talkeetna (starting point of Mt. Denali expeditions) I saw a set of 12 gauge shotguns, stocks removed and magazine tubes extended, with solenoids fitted on the triggers.

The crazy guy who practically founded the town used to strap these under the wings of his plane and gun down wolves while chasing them.

Forgot the guy's name......CRAP.

Talkeetna....my old stomping grounds. Great Hamburger there at the K2 Aviation hangar. I spent many a day on the glaciers and west buttress of Denali.

Yes, it is easy to kill someone with a rifle or shotgun.......it's just a lot harder to hide one in your pocket as you walk up to a group of people on the street.....GET REAL.
