What follows is an odd but true story of my night tonight after work...

So I finally get told that my shift is over and to go home. I head out to my car. Take off my work shirt..unlock the door...lean in to the my shirt on the passenger seat while putting the key in the ignition. I get out to get my jacket out of the back and BAM...WTH did this guy come from?

I hear "Do you know where you are?"
I say "Yea....."
"Cause I don't"
At this point I see the big rig parked on the side of the road by my work...
I ask "Ok, so what I can help you with?"
"Well, I can't find the freeway and I'm looking for Cattleman's."
"Ok" I say "So do you want directions to Cattleman's or the freeway?"
He seems to not be able to decide but eventually say's "Cattleman's"
I give him directions....He says it's a pain to drive the truck around....I tell him where he could probably park it by Cattleman's...Well if you give me a ride there and back I'll buy you dinner.
At this point I was thinking there was something fishy and kept him talking for a bit while I took a looksee to see if he had any weapons and such or hands in his pockets holding something.
He didn't so I said ok.
Well after he parked his truck behind my work I drove him over there, keeping my eyes on him the whole 10min drive.
For the next hour I enjoyed a nice 7oz Filet Mingon and a Strawberry Daquir. We also talked about various everyday stuff at which point I learned he used to run his own fleet but got screwed in a deal of some kind.

Anyways, long story short I got a free dinner and he said when he's in town he'll call me and see if I want dinner.

Guess it pays to be nice and let someone who is always on the road have someone to talk to.

Having been an otr driver, many years ago,
I can attest to being lonely, but usually I would pick up a waitress at a truck stop, and get her to drive me to a nice resturant, and buy her dinner. I don't think I would have found a guy to buy dinner for. LOL
But you gotta think about it. Those big rigs don't manuver as easily as your SUV. It was probably cheaper to park in your parking lot, and buy you dinner, rather than catch a cab. Also having someone to talk to, across a table with a face to put to the voice, instead of some detached voice coming out of your radio.
I couldn't stand OTR trucking, away from home too much, but a friend is trying to get me to drive, locally, home most nights, and I am thinking of taking him up on it. LOL
My Next Job???? I don't know, maybe. LOL

I wonder if that "Strawberry Daquir" jlambert was drinking is the reason the trucker wants another date?

LOL

As long as he didn't say, "So jlambert, do you like gladiator movies?"; "Ever just, hang around at the gym?"; or "Have you ever seen a grown man naked?"

We are so bad. Why can't two grown men share a romantic evening without us giving them a hard time?

I half expected to read that the "dinner" cpnsisted of roller dogs and a rufie cocktail with a desert of hillbilly heroin...

Why is it all I can think of is Buffalo Bill in "Silence of the Lambs"... (c:

LMAO, ahh these replies are killin' me 😛

Believe me when I got home my girlfriend asked me the same thing. If he was just setting up 'dates'. I said "Oh great, that's just what I need. A big trucker to take me out to dinner and then have his way with me."

When you got home did you feel the need to talk about football and other manly things?

jlambert, I worked at a Subway sandwich place located in a truck stop. Let me just tell you, be careful. The road can be a very lonely place.

When he calls again, please let him down easy.
May I suggest the "it's not you, it's me" excuse?
