My son got a ticket for not wearing his helmet while riding his BICYCLE.

$122 fine!!! Soooo, we went to court today and spoke with the judge. He has to write a 3 page essay on bicycle rules of the road and safety. The fine was dismissed.

MACS,

My wife got a ticket for following too close...to a Police car.

Since I was with her, the judge made ME write an essay. "The consequenses of letting your wife drive too close to a cop car, while you just sat there, and let her do it."

My 20 year ol got a ticket in California for doing 109mph in a 75mph zone. $495.00 fine. He's working alittle overtime to pay for it.

Oh man, don't get me started.

My boy got a ticket for excessive noise, because the officer said that the exhaust was too loud. I built the exhaust system so it wouldn't be. The judge siad it was at the discretion of the officer.

Odd thing is, I dorve the truck by the same officer dozens of times and he never pulled me over.

Then, he got another ticket for violation of a provisional license, because he had someone under 20 in the vehicle. The person was 19. I never gave a thought that it would be no one under 20 years old and not no one under 18 years old.

Then Saturday, this old guy decided to stop in the road and back up. My son rear ended him and recieved a following too close ticket and his truck is totalled.

I told him that at least with his truck not driveable, he can't get any more tickets.

I once knew a guy who got caught doing 110 in a 55. Tried to reason with the cop "what's the difference if I do 55 both ways or 110 and just stay there?" He got the ticket. Some cops just don't have a sense of humor.

pull your son's license and keep him out of a car for one year.

he is obviously not mature enough to drive yet.

i have been in the insurance business for 40+ years, and if any of my insured's sons gave me a **** and bull story about someone backing up and hitting him i would tell him to his face, "YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO BULL**** YOUT OLD MAN, BUT NOT ME."

you yourself are to blame for not being aware of the provisional license requiring a licensed adult over 21 being in the car with him.

harsh!! you bet. do you want him to get killed?

pull his license for a year until he learns some responsibility.

over 100 mph is probably a major violation not unlike alcohol in the vehicle of a minor, or a dui.

wait until your insurance company cancels your policy and you are out in the cold looking for insurance and having to exclude him as a driver.

whenever a newly licensed driver either male of female has ticket or accident problems in the first year, i try to insure the child with a company that is different then his parents and lock him into one car only.

i do this for several reasons. first the parents usually start with the cops are picking on him or her. damn right they are. these are new drivers and they need to respect the law and recognize a car is tranportation not a toy.

second, when the parents make excuses for the child's driving behaviour, i know the parents won't be much help in correcting the child.

i work on a profit sharing with most of my companies and i won't buy a bad risk, it costs me money. i usually place the child with a company that i do not have profit sharing with.

do you take checks from people you suspect are going to bounce the check??

summing up the reasons

1. the parents are making excuses for their child

2. second the parents won't protect the child by correcting him or her.

3. we are dealing with a child.

4. and the last and least important is my profit for the business.

you son met a responsible judge. the essay will do more to help the child then a fine you would have paid.

What I don't understand is why you can get a ticket for riding a bike without a helmet (going a couple miles an hour), but you can ride a motorcycle (going as fast as you want) without a helmet and it is legal.

I know these are kids and the rules are different. But it just doesn't seem like the system is consistent.

And why is there a law that says I have to wear a seatbelt in my car (which I do anyway) but a motorcyclist can ride without a helmet. If the laws are to protect us against injury, then why did Pennsylvania change the law to make riding without a helmet legal? I know a few people who were killed on motorcycles and had helmets on. I can't imagine what the statistics are for people who aren't wearing them.

Lauren - not in Kookifornia it ain't.

Here you have to wear a helmet on the motorcycle too. 18 and under have to wear one on a bicycle.

It's all a bunch of BS designed to make CA some money... and they STILL don't have any.

Because they give it all away in welfare to the illegal immigrants, but don't get me started on that...
