well, let's hope you don't consider spelling your strong suit, either 😉

just bustin' ya.

i know nothing about physics. i majored in busyness.

Newtonian or Quantum? I actually found both interesting but the math in Quantum can be a bit dicey. Either way, both can be challenging. Enjoy school while you can. Work can be both boring and monotonous.

....wait until you get into fluxes and electromagnetic fields (quantum physics).....oh, what fun!

btw, spelling is something you need to get a grasp on.....it doesn't matter how smart someone truly is. If they sound like an idiot, people will treat them as such.

I didn't like physics to start with, actually flunked one class (I like to blame it on the theory that learning is inversely proportional to alcholic consumption...it may be logarithmic, actually, my experiment ended too soon), but then ended up getting a Bachelor's degree in astro-physics (I know, it is hard to believe that George Jetson's dog has a whole branch of pyhsics dedicated to him).

It makes it kind of tough when the guy that "wrote the book" is also the professor (Simon, physics 311, mechanics).

My favorite book of all time was actually a math book "Div, Grad, Curl and All That"....honest, that's the title!

Hang in there, it will get better. See if you can find something in the real world to apply it to or relate it to, I know calculating the time it takes for a pea to freeze (assuming an onion-layering approach and integrating across the boundaries) isn't much fun, but try relating it to something...if it doesn't get better in a year (give it at least 1 1/2 years), then bail!!!

Iwolf:

I am a senior engineer, and I remember 20 some years ago when I was a freshman taking physics. I enjoyed it, but I had a really good professor. Anyway, keep in mind that the object of these classes is to train you into becomming a problem solver. Problem solving is what engineering is all about.

I had a professor that put it all in prospective for me. He said college is a four year hazeing.

Good Luck !!!

I actually started out in electrical engineering. A buddy of mine was 1 semester ahead of me, what he was doing looked boring. So when my counselor told me I should "look at" other majors because of my grade in physics I switched to astro-physics, which is all physics and math (6 semesters of physics and 6 semesters of math). It's just how you apply it and relate it to your world as to whether you like it (ok, tolerate it) or despise it.

I agree, it's a problem solving education. The first company I worked for hired engineers, mathematicians and physicists to do their programming, not computer science grads.

If you want to have real fun, call up Motorola and tell them their standards documentation is wrong.

When in engineering school, my Calculus professor had made a good point. He said, "the engineer bows to the physicist, the physicist bows to the mathematician, and the mathematician bows to GOD". Then he would laugh at us loudly. What made it even more funny is he was from India.

I don't get it, why is it funnier that he's from India. I'm serious, I'm not being sarcastic or anything. Was it the accent? That's kind of funny I s'pose. I always laugh at that accent.
