I only compile stuff using Wise at my current position, but I use the lessons learned with C++ all the time with vbscript and perl scripting. Java also seems to have C++ in it, I think it was written using it.
I'm no code guru, but isn't more a matter of using something object oriented?
I have no idea what veriloge is...a compiler maybe?
