Mrs. Hog is working with a young (ditz)woman now who just found out she is pregnant again... first child she aborted and was talking of doing the same with this one today... my wife had spent all morning trying to encourage her to carry the child full term and then give it over for adoption if she chose not to raise it... at lunchtime when my wife got home she was shaking and her eyes welled up because of their discussion over this one... She told this woman We would be glad to adopt the child but please do not abort this child... she's 7 wks along from what we understand... this woman loves her party life and to me is a snobby conseeded little B!tch... observation noted from a few occassions of meeting her at work and at their Christmas Party... I think my wife felt more at ease when I said yes we would adopt this child? but I don't have a clue how this works??

this is a clear case of why abortion should be illegal.. she is wanting to terminate this child because she doesn't think she can be a good mother and doesn't want the interference in her social life....

We wouldn't be discussing this issue if her mother felt the same way!!!

tread lightly,.

there are cases of birth mothers demanding the return of a child 10 years later.

back away. the child may be born a crack addict.

you can't help this one and then the next one, etc.

you can only offer advice, not you and christina's

personal lives.

While I can understand where RICKAMAVEN is coming from I disagree strongly with his rationale. If nobody helped anybody else and nobody cared what happened to the lives of innocent, unborn babies - or any other defenseless person - we wouldn't have much of a society.

My wife and I have adopted 3 emotionally disturbed children. Is it hard? YES! Is it worth it? YES! We're the only people who really care that these 3 children have a better life than their birth parents could have provided.

You and your bride believe that this baby should live instead of being killed for his or her mother's convenience. Act on your belief. Are there problems with planning to adopt directly from a birth mother? YES! Are there risks that the baby will have health problems? YES!

The question you need to answer for yourselves is whether or not you are willing to accept the risks in order to keep the baby from being killed by the mother.

I'm going to agree with Rick on this one. hog family, I salute your steadfast beliefs and what you are trying to do here, but I feel you're opening a whole can of worms that at best should remain closed. By adopting this child, you will forever be tied to this women that it seems you despise. In the past, courts have ruled that limited visitation, pictures, communication, etc is a reasonable request of the birth parents. By taking her child, you will also be taking this woman into your lives, and from your very brief description, that's not something you want to happen.

Also, this is her decision. I know you 2 are trying to help this woman do what's best, but you're trying to get her to do what's best in your eyes and what you believe God wants her to do. Are you really giving her advice on what would be best for her? Perhaps there's more to consider then "she just doesn't want the baby". Maybe the father is abusive, maybe she's a drug addict, perhaps she uninsured. As I applaud your undying determination to have people do what's right, I do think it's a bit selfish to not consider that there's more to the story then meets the eye.

I think the decision can be much more then just not wanting a child. Take the following scenario. A women has no insurance. She already has 1 child she's supporting. There's no way she can keep the baby. Say she gives the baby up for adoption. She now has $10,000 in hospital bills for her and the infant. She's uninsured and has to pay this sum by taking food out of her current baby's mouth. However, with an abortion, she's out $150, and is not destroying the life of her current child.

I don't know, things like this are just too complicated to be black and white. Good luck to both of you and to the woman who has a very tough decision to make.

yeah, hog, i think i agree with rick on this one, as well. i understand your compassion and your wife's compassion for the woman and the unborn child. unfortunately, you can't save them all. heck, you can't even save all of hers. my personal advice would be to tell the woman to grow up and be the mother she refuses to be. she's been given a gift many women would give anything to have. i don't think the odds are very good of this being a very happy ending if you adopt the child. a woman this immature is certain cause problems later for the "real" parents of her child. make her live with the consequences of her actions. if she chooses to keep the child as a result of your influence, i'd also recommend you support her as much as reasonably possible. remember, you may have just saved two lives.

this is one of those stories that makes want to be anti-abortion. i can't commit, though, because there's always the stories that make me think abortion should sometimes be legal. man, this is a tough subject to dance around.

I'm going to vote for kicking the living snot out of the stupid be-otch that KNOWS she doesn't want kids, yet is enough of an idiot to get pregnant again after having one abortion already.

Sorry for the rant hog, but this pisses me off...

gotta go with Rick on this one...if you want to adopt a baby, that is fine, but do it because you want kids, not because you want to save a kid. You intentions are noble, but I fear you you may get harmed in the end here.

I agree with you, MAC. She is very irresponsible. Accidents happen, but after 1 accident already, she should have learned her lesson.

Dear general

You sure don't tip toe through the tulips do you. And I can't believe that I am stepping up to the plate on this one - But - On the subject of adoption I think most of the time potential parents are seeking a child there are agencys etc to isolate the potential parents from most of the pitfalls already disscussed above.I may be wrong but I would think that most adoptive parents are seeking a child to become part of their lives rather than seeking to save the child from there potential life. so I guess I'm advising to make sure your doing this for the right reasons.

Secondly it may not be healthy to be too close to the adoptive mother due to both legal concerns as well as other concerns that may arise as the child becomes older. Be careful.

Hey Hog,

Where I agree with your morals, I agree with Rick, you would be opening a can of worms. I am adopted, and am blessed with having a loving family, and no birthmother showing up drunk to see me, or other embarrasing things. This is because of the secracy that was a part of adoptions in the 60s. This is not the case today. I have been trying to find my biological mother for several years, with no luck. Because records were secret, there is no way to find her through records. That is not the case today. Now the birth mother has access to alot of these records, though sometimes they have to sue to get them. Unfortunately there is no easy solution.

Good Luck.

Hog.....you need to email and talk to my friend Rick (Crabbylane). He has 6 awesome kids that were all adopted, all from women who some were crack heads and/or worse. There are issues to consider, struggles involved with some stuff, but I believe they are all worth it to provide a decent life for these children! I commend and admire you for the willingness to take in a child as your own. Not everyone can say "I'll do it" It takes special people with big hearts...I'd say you and your wife are some of those people.

Good luck in whatever happens here!

Oh yeah...rick's email is crabbylane at direcway dot com

Hog,

While I agree with Rick and the others, on a secular/logical basis... When viewing this from the perspective of your beliefs, I say do it.

When asked the inevitable question that arises in this debate, "Who will care for the child?", and you step forward and say, ... "I WILL." That is righteous.

You can't save all of them, that is so so true..., But you can save this one, and along the way, you may "save" the mother too. It is the road less traveled, but it is also the path that you hold to be true, and by offering up your personal lives to whatever may follow from your beliefs, you are demonstrating that what you believe is reasonable (if you are willing to make a Christ-like sacrifice). Your faith in the spirit which moved your wife to make the committment that she did, should sustain you, even if the road is hard.

Hey Hog, Wow this is a tough ordeal and you know I'm for you dopting this child and though your not looking for it I really commend you on this one. You are at the top of my prayers. This is real difficult and you must be stong. I think those who look at this optomistically and see that you will save this childs life and possibly that of the mother is a sound perspective. We are a people of the cross, so "Unite your suffering with Christ" as St. Paul says. Your example might inspire others to keep theirs if you can't take all of them in. The bottom line being let your light shine before others. Just be faithful. God bless.

Thank You all for your inputs and well wishes...

The Mrs. will be giving an update when she gets a chance to on this one...

for now I think its worked or working out for the better??

cexshun I do not dispise this woman... I stated my feelings in regards to "her actions" as the way I see her today... she has allot of growing up to do and to be a producer of children and know what is at stake... by the time she would reach 30-35 she would be looking back and regreting her discissions she made as she was younger...I dispise her actions not herself personally...I think the Mrs. is handling this issue well... and to throw up stop signs and leave this woman to a one track lane is the last thing to do if you were to come in contact with someone dealing with such a discission in their lives... Guilt can bury people, and wreck other lives in the process!!!

as far as taking on a child stickly because of this incedent.. no the Mrs. and I have talked about this before (adopting) we've got 6 children between us and raising the last who will be out of the house in the next couple years... our children are building their lives and are not at the point of having children of their own just yet... We both relize theirs going to be a riff soon and we are contimplating all aspects of how we're going to fill this riff?? 3 dogs, Cat and fish are good... But the talk and the thought of Adopting another child for the two of us to raise is not an option we've takin off the table yet... we understand the risks in this day and age and seen the damage done to paternal parents changing their minds and wanting their child back... we've also seen first hand the emotional scars it does to folks who decide to have an abortion because their not ready to settle down at that point in their life and later out of all the folks we know who've made that early on descission... their smothered in guilt... we also know first hand adoptions do work and have seen this with my own sister who gave her baby up for adoption at age 15.. she is 31 today and although she and the other family keep in close contact.. she will tell you their is a void and always the dark memories of what if's? as she is raising a daughter now for the past 10 yrs...you can see it in her speech about the what if possiblities...

i agree also with everything you said. in particular

"The question you need to answer for yourselves is whether or not you are willing to accept the risks"

i said almost the same thing, but since i am not a rabid anti abortionist, i have a slightly different take.

we both offered similar advice.

.....UPDATE....

SHE IS KEEPING IT!!! She came up to me this morning and with tears in her eyes said, I have decided I cannot abort my baby. I am keeping it no matter what. She even asked me to help her pick out the names. I truly love this girl and I feel like I am going to be a grandmother...
