A LIVING GOD

A defendant was on trial for murder. There was strong evidence indicating guilt, but there was no corpse. In the defense's closing statement the lawyer, knowing that his client would probably be convicted, resorted to a trick: "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I

have a surprise for you all," the lawyer said as he looked at his watch.

"Within one minute, the person presumed dead in this case will walk into this courtroom."

He looked toward the courtroom door. The jurors, somewhat stunned, all looked on eagerly. A minute passed. Nothing happened.

Finally the lawyer said, "Actually, I made up the previous statement. But you all looked on with anticipation. I therefore put it to you that there is reasonable doubt in this case as to whether anyone

was killed and insist that you return a verdict of not guilty."

The jury, clearly confused, retired to deliberate. A few minutes later, the jury returned and pronounced a verdict of guilty.

"But how?" inquired the lawyer. "You must have had some doubt; I saw all of you stare at the door."

The jury foreman replied: "Oh, we did look, but your client didn't."

Oops! It was evident from the way he acted that the defendant didn't really believe the victim was still alive. Let me ask you a question: As the world looks at our lives, is it evident to them that we believe in a living God?

Oh, I know we've made the case, we've argued the evidence, we've proclaimed the truth that "Our God, He is Alive!" But the world may be looking not so much at the evidence we present, as our demeanor, to see

if it matches what we say we believe.

"For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe. These things command and teach. Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity." (I Timothy 4:10-12)

May it be evident to the people around us by the way we act that we serve a LIVING God!

Still a Work In Progress....

I'm Just an Old Chunk Of Coal (But I'm Gonna Be a Diamond Someday)

Written by - Billy Joe Shaver

I'm just an old chunk of coal

But I'm gonna be a diamond someday

I'm gonna grow and glow

'Til I'm so blue pure perfect

I'm gonna put a smile on everybody's face

I'm gonna kneel and pray every day

Lest I should become vain along the way

I'm just an old chunk of coal now, Lord

But I'm gonna be a diamond someday

I'm gonna learn the best way to walk

I'm gonna search and find me a better way to talk

And I'm gonna spit and polish my old rough edged self

'Til I get rid of every flaw

I'm gonna be the world's greatest friend

I'm gonna go around shaking everybody's hand

Hey, I'm gonna be the cotton pickin' rage of the age

I'm gonna be a diamond someday

Now, I'm just an old chunk of coal

But I'm gonna be a diamond someday

I'm gonna grow and glow

'Til I'm so blue pure perfect

I'm gonna put a smile on everybody's face

I'm gonna kneel and pray every day

Lest I should become vain along the way

I'm just an old chunk of coal now, Lord

But I'm gonna be a diamond someday

Hey, I'm gonna be the cotton pickin' rage of the age

I'm gonna be a diamond someday

I have a friend that asks "If you were on trial for being a Christian, would the evidence be sufficient to convict you." I'd probably get off scott free.

Of course, most of the world has an incorrect view of what scripture says.

Unfortunately, this applies to most in the pews as well.

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Our God Lives is right! Great post Hog !I have heard Pastors preach on take a look in your check book and that will tell if you put your money were your mouth is.

33 Give what property you have in exchange for money, and give the money to the poor; make for yourselves money-bags which will not get old, wealth stored up in heaven which will be yours for ever, where thieves will not come nor worms put it to destruction.

34 For where your wealth is, there will your heart be.
