Tabasco or Trappey Bull.......preferably tabasco, my all time favorite. The Crystal brand is great on biscuits and gravy.

Tiger Sauce

Hotter than Hell.......but due to doctor recommendations about my constant reflux problem, I have limited myself to standard sauces.

Jalapeño, Thai Dragon (oh so yummy)

Tabasco.......awesome pickled stuff.

I eat pepperoncini's regularly as well.

MY Father-in-law brought home some to my wifes brother yesterday. They are always trying to out-hot sauce each other. The stuff he brought home had a warning label that said "ignorant hot" because only an ignorant person would eat it. He did and was gagging in the sink from two or three drops on one chip for like twenty minutes. Funniest thing I ever saw...

I buy "Ring of Fire" on the internet. It's a habanero based hot sauce with a lot of great flavors added. Almost like a relish. John

1. Franks Red Hot

2. Quaker Steak - Medium or Lousiana Licker's

3. Quaker Steak - Atomic

4. Whatever I can grab at the local market, to mix / cook with "other stuff"

I have been known to cook up a batch of what I call "Devil Dogs"

Content - 3 lbs of hot dogs, BBQ sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, honey, Franks, Crystal, Dave's, garlic powder, Lawry's seasoned salt, pepper, and whatever I can get my hands on. (I have, at times, cooked up some peppers & onions to mix in with it.) There have been quite a few metal bowls that were ruined and even some aluminum foil that developed holes overnight, from all the acid.

Hmmm, could explain the stomach problems...

Dan,

Up until a couiple years ago, I used to grown my own peppers ansd make hotsauce.

One of the best I came up with was a sauce based on Cayennes that I smoked over apple wood. I suppose it had somewhat of a chipotle taste, but a little hotter and a little smokier.

Mmmmmmmm.....avocados. My little bro lives in Homestead FL (huge ag city). The avocados are almost as big as footballs. Last trip, I got 6 bushes for free but gave most away down south.

Andy,

Just came across this tread, I have some great hot pepper. I just have some dried ones from last season. I will send you some out, I also will have freshies by summer. The pepper I am sending you is great to cut with store bought crushed red.

I love hot.

But at some point it becomes a trade off for flavor when you get too hot. The tears of joy should always outnumber the tears from the heat.

A good, everyday, put it on eggs and shut up, sauce is the Jim Beam hot sauce. medium heat and tasty.

I also had the Datil pepper sauce previously mentioned, and that was good. Includes some carrot juice if I recall, which adds natural sugar to cut the acidity. (that's why I add carrots to my pasta sauces)

The hottest "good tasting" sauce I ever had was one that we purchased at a stand in the farmers market in New Orleans. homemade. It was dark and thick, yet made your toes curl. It was so tasty that even folks who don't like the high heat had to have seconds!

I don't care for tabasco. not enough heat and too much vinegar.

Another great source of heat is chinese chili paste. Looks like relish, but packs a little punch.

If you're looking for just heat, suck on a habenero or even some pure capsicium liquid.

Now lets put this heat to work.

Any recipes that use a good hot sauce??

Wings, chili, salsa?
