Perhaps it is time for those who do not believe the biblical story of creation to start saying that if real science, such as evolution, must come with a warning label then so too should every bible. I suggest something like this:

"WARNING: This book contains information about "God" or "Jesus". There is no scientific proof of the existence of a "Supreme Being," nor any scientific proof of the possibility of a "virgin" birth, nor has any historical evidence ever been found that proves any person identified as Jesus Christ was the son of a supernatural being. Such statements made in this book are only theories."

.....Rick, I don't agree with you on this since the Bible is a book that is used solely for religious practice....not public education. If it was used in a public classroom as a textbook I would agree.

I do feel though that you are onto something. Perhaps under the Ten Commandments plaque hung in courtrooms there should be a disclaimer that says.....

"These rules apply only to those that believe and practice the Christian Faith. If they have broken any of these rules, they will be punished according to the rules set forth in the Christian Bible by this court (ie death for adultry and masturbation). All others will be protected and judged under the laws of this state."

Adroomi.......you're ignorant. The ten commandments are the foundation of every democracy. To top that, masturbation isn't covered. Good try.

Well Rick.......creation cries of a creator.

Rick.......what evidence do you have that chaotic universes create logical universes ex-nihilo?

Rick.......what evidence could you provide that life begins from non-life?

IGNORANT? because he doesn't believe what you believe? i don't believe what you believe and therefore i am ignorant also.

the 10 comandments are not the foundation of every democracy. where did you ever get such a foolish idea.

creation demands a creator. i agree that their are some basic rules that matter and energy follow. but when you use the word creator aren't you refering to a father figure that you can talke to and he can grant you personal assistance.

life in the form of amino acids, one of the building blocks of life has been created from inorganic material in laboratories many times. i don't know what that proves in relation to homo sapiens, but it does answer your last question. by the way homo dosen't mean gay.

as far as your second question, why would i have to prove it. it is or it isn't.

No. Ignorant because he thinks masturbation is contained in one of the ten commandments

His own words prove that he is ignorant when it comes to the topic at hand (so to speak)

As I have said before Rick, you simply cannot read well. Get that education from Big Government? And yes, not believing the truth would leave one in a state of ignorance, wouldn't it? Thanks EI for correcting Ricks ignorance.

Basic rules? You mean order from chaos? Could you recreate that in the labratory? If there is an order, who set it? Random acts bring about order? That's what you are asking us to believe?

I am college educated, and I can read. Yes, homo can mean gay, but doesn't when used in a scientific context. Building blocks aren't life Rick. Science is always trying to imitate God. Rick, for that, science will need to create it's own dirt, ex-nihilo.

Rick,

Stirring it up again I see. LOL Good work man.

Now, although I don't necessarily beleive as you beleive, I do feel that it should be a level playing feild all the way across.

Example 1: For the 1st 4 years I was with this company we always had a big to-do for Halloween. Now all of a sudden this past year all festivities were canceled due to it being offensive to some people's religious beliefs (yet we still celebrated Christmas and our manager still gives praises to the Lord in every meeting).

Example 2: A young man was told by a manager to remove "religious" things from his desk because they were offensive to some people in the office (yet I walk past at least 30 crosses and King James Bibles on my way to and from my desk everyday).

I don't judge anyone for what they do or don't beleive. I'm secure in my beleifs, therefore it don't matter. I deal with each person on an individual bases. But I get tired of seeing people "ousted" per say because they don't beleive in what is deemed as the majority. I mean even in the King James it says that things will go this way in the final days. So I'm confused as to why so many "Christians" scream out about gays and abortions and religious differences and on and on. I mean it seems that if you beleive in what you preach then you would rejoice in the realization that we are in the last days and you are close to seeing the day of Glory. Jus MHO

If we begin with the notion that all claims are equally valid, we fall for anything.

Shouldn't business owners be allowed to run their business as they see fit?

Simply because Holy Writ speaks about the end times becoming worse does not mean we are to idly sit by and condone wrong.

Because some believe we are in the "last days".......something that has been preached since 100ad.......doesn't mean we live our lives as they we have this knowledge infallibly.

Mo,

You are right on all accounts, but to say that the book of Revelations, which says no man is to add too or take from, is a what if. Then what is that to say about the whole religion? I just think alot of the times people turn it into a pick and choose, to suit their own purpose. Stradle the fence per say.

the problem with your responses are the belief in your source, "the bible."

beause of your belief you are able to respond using ideas from your source.

other people do ot accept the premise of your source so your quoting from it is ineffective.

for wxample

i say most birds are about 8 ounces and are colored gray.

from that sentence i can talk about birds endlessly always refering to birds as gray and less then a pound.

but if you don't believe my premise about birds you will see many different color birds and many different sizes. if i were to be told about or shown a oicture of a blue bird, or an eagle, i would dismiss them as birds. i could call them tukels and my premise would still be valid in my mind.

you know that some bible believers don't accept the fact that the earth is longer then the 6,000 or so years the book says it is. they don't believe in evolution in spite of the evidence available and i don't believe a bird could be any color other then gray nor weigh more then 8 ounces. those other creatures are tukels.

Rick says.......

Yes. It has been shown to be good for many uses. Your rejection of it shows your bias.

Rick says.......

Doesn't matter what "some people" think. Truth stands despite popular opinion.

About the birds.......I know you're neither God NOR infallible. Now, what evidence do you have for evolution? Ever witnessed it yourself? Can it be reproduced in a labratory expirement? How about abiogenesis?

....perhaps a couple of you should read my disclaimer again. Maybe I didn't elaborate enough? I don't recall stating that masturbation was contained in the Ten Commandments. I said "anyone who breaks these RULES, etc...."

This meant that those that are of the Christian Faith will be judged, and punished in this particular courtroom for whatever their crime was in the context and format of the Christian Bible. It does not only apply to the Ten Commandments. And yes, the punishment for murder and masturbation according to the Christian Bible is death.

All others that are non-Christian will be judged and punished according to the laws of the State.

Does that make more sense now? Had I meant that only those that break one of the Commandments will be judged/punished, etc, I would have stated "anyone that breaks these COMMANDMENTS......not RULES as I wrote."

I don't consider myself ignorant in regards to the Christian faith. In fact, I consider myself to be quite well versed and knowledgeable in it. As I am also fairly well versed in Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, and a few others, I claim not to be an expert on any, but rather simply well versed. I'm not as fluent in any of these as a few folks I know, but I have enough knowledge to get by I suppose.

I do know that I don't feel comfortable in a free Democratic society where the Ten Commandments are printed on a plaque on the courtroom wall where I may be facing a trial for what will result in the "rest of my life's plans." I would even feel more uncomfortable if I was an American of Asian descent that is a strong and avid follower of the Hindu Faith to see this.

America is a country made up of folks from all walks of life, and all religious backgrounds. Doesn't our own statue of bigotry...oops, I mean Liberty state so on her. Doesn't it say, "give me your tired, your poor huddled masses, and I'll p*ss on them?" Well, something to that effect anyway.

Separation of Church and State are very important to a democracy.....in fact I thought it was the very foundation of democracy.....not the Bible as mentioned above.

i don't capitalize what you call holy writ, nor would i capitalize the constitution. i rarely even capatilize the title of a book or movie.

these are all things written by men and woman.

but back to my original point phrased differently.

do you live by a code of morality and ethics because you want to or because "it is written?"
