EI...YES. Without a doubt
I have been involved in baseball for my entire life. As a player, a coach, and a fan. His skills with a bat are absolutly amazing. The roids dont help with your patience, hand eye coordination, his ability to recognize a pitch, his skills at breaking down a pitcher and knowing the pitchers tendancies and his stuff...The art of hitting as very little to do with strenght. Strength just allows you to hit it harder. But if you dont have the skills to hit the ball it doesnt matter how strong you are. Case in point...Cardinals series about 2 years ago, he sees 5 strikes ina 3 game series and he hits 3 out of the park. Roids you say??? Um no...just because you can bench press a Volkswagon doesnt mean you can hit a baseball.
Have any of you tried to hit a 90+mph fastball?? Even when you know its coming? I have. It aint easy Babe...not by a long shot. Oh yeah...those fastballs move. They bonce, they hop, the break in and out. Then you have to worry about ungodly breaking pitches that explode at you. Break 2 feet. Change ups (GOD FORSAKEN CHANGE_UPS!), sinkers, fork ballls, knucklers, split fingers, screw balls, up and in low and away...and he makes it look easy. All I know is when his peers, the guys who really know how hard it is to do what he does, are amazed at how easy he makes it seem. Then, hey, he must be pretty good. But persoanlly I dont need them to tell me. I can just see it. Its a lot of hard work, studying, time in the cage, hours and hours of swing after swing. They all work this hard, but they can't do it like Barry. Rubbing some crap on your arm doesnt give you the overall hitting skilz he possess. Give every player from the past, and present what Barry has been exposed to in his conditioning and if he did use that crap, give them that too. Rub that shiz all over Ruth, Aaron, Mays, Robinson, all of um..hell dip them in it up to their necks! Barry would still be one of the best ever.
