Both worked in Burlesque and each married dancers . . .

Unknown to most of the general public, Bud Abbott suffered from Epilepsy and most of the comics at the time refused to work with him for that reason. Lou Costello was the only comic to whom this did not make the slightest bit of difference. He recognized Abbott for what he was; one of the greatest straight men in the business (straight has a different meaning these days.) Despite this, they had a contentious relationship and never socialized. They were successful because they were able to turn their burlesque routines into fare for radio and the movies, by removing the "blue" material and ending up with the most famous skit of all--"Who's On First?? Costello was a former professional boxer, despite his pudgy appearance, and could handle himself quite well. He was also very generous and supported many sports team for young, disadvantaged boys. One of the greatest comedy teams ever. 🤣

Watched that last night on Amazon Prime!

I love those . I paid .99 to see Abbott and Costello meet the Creature from the Black Lagoon which was part of an 8 hour package put together for Roku.. It was made for TV and rarely seen..

Good to know. Thanks, DMV. Gonna queue it up.

Lately Prime has been outperforming Netflix for us. If it weren't for the 'original' series, we'd probably have dumped Netflix altogether by now.
