Any little league managers out there?

I manage my son's AA LL team (the Angels of course). In our region, AA is the first year of "Kid Pitch". It is a blast. I am having so much fun and I am actually remebering things about the game I haven't thought about in years. Coverage responsibilties, cutoff responsbilities, sunflower seeds in the dugout, etc. etc.

I am appreciating the game again.

Great News Uncleb... just don't get burned out on the Parents... I was an assistant for 3 yrs when my son played ball... two years of that we went to the all stars local area.. only advanced one level in the regional play offs... allot of great memories and its great to have a kid come up and call you by your first name asking how your doing... only this kid is 20-21-22 now and your thinkin who the H#ll is this?? LOL... and then they tell you who they are... I had a Dad going to come over the bullpen fence after me once... he only got one foot on the fence before he was forced to look like an Arse... You'll have a blast!!!! good time spent with your son also!!! And remember your those kids mentor not their babysitter ;0)~~~

Congrats!!!!

one other thing Uncleb... is your son a pitcher? does he have an arm??

I built a pitchers best friend thing when my son was playing.. I left it at the ballfield for all others to use.. these kids loved it.. I made it out of 2X4's Rope, tarp, 4 3/8" I bolts and a warn out nose wheel tire off an F-16... I'll see if my son has a picture of it and try and post it here... he/they used it for all three years Mustangs,Broncos, and Pony leagues...

I am a sometimes bench coach for my son's team. He is in his last year, next year is Babe Ruth or LL Seniors.

It is a blast.

Russ, find that picture.

Thats cool uncle... when I was a kid, my dad was a coach... those memories you never forget! I have no kids, but if I did I'd coach too.

Hog,

Yes, my son is a pitcher. He's my number 2 right now. Decent velocity with very good control. Knows how to throw strikes. I am lucky in that I have 3 good starters and one GREAT closer (he is my #1 pitcher but does not like the pressure of starting).

As far as the parents go, one of my main things going into the draft was to draft good parents as well as good players. There were a number of kids I stayed away from because I did not think their parents understood what the whole point of little league. Because of that, we have a great set of parents. Makes it that much better.
