Any thoughts on this. A good way to help protect our border? Or just looking for trouble?

You might as well just give the task to the NRA. No disrespect intended to NRA members, they at least know how to handle a weapon safely and be somewhat organized.

Put trained military out there to support Border Patrol. I realize everyone's stretched a little thin right now, but ordinary citizens are not trained for these situations.

ALSO, there is nothing harder on our guaranteed freedoms than War. Therefore, people who TRULY have a problem with these freedoms are mostly in favor of war.

I have thought for a long time that we need to set up a military unit, perhaps even a seperate branch to protect our borders. We already do that with our coast lines, why not our land borders. We have the coast guard watching the coast, but we have an ineffective border patrol watching our land borders. I think that we need to get military personnel out on the borders and use military tactics. I am not saying that we should make the border a free fire zone, but I think that we should set up a string of bases along the border and conduct air and ground patrols 24 hours a day. During the Vietnam war, naval special warfare teams (SEALS) had part of their training along the border. They would set up ambushes and practice thier prisoner grabbing techniques on the illegal aliens that were coming across the border. We should go back to that type of practice. Maybe not with spec ops, but with military personnel.

The "minutemen" idea is working.

Arizona has had a reduction of over 90% illegals entering through that 23 mile border.

Unfortunately, our Liar-in-Chief is not pleased. He wants his buddy, Vicente Fox, to like him.

The so-called "vigilantes" are now being harrassed by the local law enforcement.

Hmmm, I wonder if W had anything to do with that?

To add insult to injury, I've heard that an "illegal amnesty" rider has been attached to a bill that was to give our military much-needed aid.

How about that?! Talk about deceit.

We need troops along the border. Put the National Guard down there from Cali to Texas.

This will be great if this group of vigilantes is like the ones on the Simpsons....

"Violent crime is down 50% but sacks of doorknob beatings are up 90%... this is Kent Brockman reporting"..

No different than the Gaudian Angels. Bush probably actually likes them but puts on another face to appease Mexico.

We should spend a billion a week to enforce our borders.

Actually we should spend half a billion. The other half we could use to give away to the business owners that will lose a much needed immigrant workforce, and the potential immigrants themselves. We could pay them to stay out of the border and stay home with their families where they belong.

Now....where do we come up with an extra billion a week?

....and don't anybody say Iraq. Those people need us over there, and their support of us in the streets of Baghdad shows it.

I mean, the money we are spending for them, should never be used for us, right?

"Now....where do we come up with an extra billion a week?"

Take all that "free" monies we are giving to the tsunami victims and follow your advice and invest it in China?

Jon,

All joking aside, you really are a childish fool aren't you? First of all, your suggestion doesn't amount to a billion (maybe you need a calculator). You consistantly make comments with the sole purpose of being snide and vulgar to anyone that will read you. Have you ever even posted an original thread of your own with any tangent of discussion intended, or do you simply just throw in your smart a*sed remarks because you can't keep up with the conversation?

You're the type of guy that soon either finds himself standing all alone at the bar because the others snuck out the door, or you get one of your friends into a fight with the big guy at the end of the bar you've been smarting off to. Either way, your mouth probably gets you into a lot of trouble doesn't it?
