they are going away and they had more hd channels then anyone.

direct tv and dish tv both seem to have the same number of hd channels 7.

is that all there is?

i had direct tv and changed only for more hd channels.

i am familiar with direct tv.

who has dealt with dish network and what can you tell me.

thanks

My parents have Dish. They love it. They had DirecTV for a few years, but had to battle with them a lot when they moved ( they are retired full-time RVers ).

They apparently like the "Chat with Charlie" feature.

One of the other 2 is buying at least one of Voom's satelites. I think you'll see some channels added this year.

I've had dish network for a year and a half. While not perfect they are sincere and have a customer service department comparable to C-Bids.Ive got everything except the porno channels. Its about 99 bucks a month. The H-d channels are all good including Showtime and Hbo and discovery , Tnt, Hd movies and H -d net.I think i have something like 45 premium movie channels ,many news and cartoon channels.I really consider it a bargain and they have quite an incentive program to sign up. You can either have a free lease of the equipment or free equipment. I took the free lease because they fix it free if it breaks. Once i suspected i had a remote problem and they just shipped me one next day-air and told me to keep the old one. They have free bingo on Wenesdays with great prizes.By the way i have three hookups and my home channels plus an additional pack of national superstations La,Denver,Ny,Boston and others. For a guy like me who grew up with fuzzy reception on a black and white struggling to get 3 channels which usually went off the air at 11 or 12 pm ,i am in T-V heaven. My daughter's family has Direct Tv and always tells me how much better they like my Dish Network which i have heard from many converts also. i give it a 94 rating!

Rick to further what Jack was saying I as well have Dish and it is great. Free HD receiver with dish, same number of HD channels. Only drawback for me is no NFL Sunday Ticket and no local channels in my area. I live in the boonies!! I think you will like Dish Network if you go that direction. Good Luck!

thank you for seconding his motion. i tried to call the dish people, but they are not open again until monday.

i have cable also and that gives me all the local chanels .

i don't want to miss my h&c and the o' factor. then of course i turn to the daily show for real news.

sorry to bring up politics, just ignore it please.

last year almost all of the nfl games i wanted to watch were on abc or fox and in hd, so not too much of a loss.

this year i became an arizona cardinel fan and hope kurt warner can finish in a blaze of glory.

when he praised "his lord and savior" after winning his first superbowl mvp, my respect for him was locked in.

and if you have read any of my posts, you know i am not religious. he did what he had to do to support his family but was ready when he was called on by the rams.

the man persevered. that is what a man does.

Rick,

get rid of the TV, and spend the summer out on your patio. Boot the laptop, and spend an hour every evening jotting down your memiors. Once a week, edit them. When you get to about 400 pages, you've got a book. Even if you never publish, it will give the grandkids a way to know who you were when you're gone.

If you must keep the TV, only keep the educational channels.
