I tried a gas grill, one year and I was back to my Weber Kettle. The only thing I dislike about the Weber is that I can only cook 2 racks of baby backs at a time. I'd like a larger grill but have not found one that matches the Weber in quality.

the link failed for me.

Sams Club carried a nice one for about $400 IIRC. I can't have charcol grills in the apt complex so Ididn't pay too much attention to the price.

my grill is almost 20 years old. it uses butane, which i buy from hank hill, WHEN I CAN.

it has a porcelin grilling surface which cleans easily and some kind of briquets that are heated by the gas.

i believe the porcelin grilling surface is the reason it has lasted so long.

i have replaced the wheels once.

the grill is usually covered because it is exposed to the rain.

i bought it from some place called barbeques r us, or something like that for about $275 in the mid 80's and they suggested, correctly, that i should spend the extra money for the porcelin grilling surface.

the name on the grill is ARKLA, town and country.

I have an Austrailian BarBQue Grill and it is 6 years old now, paid about 500 bucks for the damn thing, but it is a great grill! Three burners, gets hot as hell, and it works on anythng. Runs on LP gas, (not butane, Rick)! Grills Steaks like a Chop House would do them!

I replaced the burner and the briquettes on my gas grill just a month or so ago. Cleaned up the racks real good and oiled them with olive oil.

It's been working great since.

And Julian... if you're willing to spend $1,200 on a grill, we gotta talk about a job. I retire in about 2 years.

Last year I bought the perfect answer to the charcoal/gas debate. I got a Weber Performer. I is basically a Weber kettle charcoal grill that has a small tank of gas for lighting the charcoal. Turn it on, hit the ignition, once the charcoal is burning, turn the gas off. I love it!

i relly don't know what is in the tank. i do an exchange at home depot, empty tank and money for heavy full tank.

Buy the Weber Kettle and get yourself a "chimney" for starting it. It is a mettle container w/a spot for newspaper on the bottom and your charcoal on top, dump the coals when they are red hot and you will never again have to live with that lp/butane/lighter fluid taste on your steaks. Also throw away your charcaol briquettes and by the natural charcoal. Bigger pieces and burns hotter, but once you get used to them they are awesome....especially for steaks!

I've got the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker Smoker. You can use it as a grill or a smoker and it is absolutely one of the easiest charcoal smokers there is to use.

Hey Shawn, know anything about plants? While I'm looking at >$1,000 grills it don't mean that the wife won't shoot me down.

CaribbeanSoul, you must be reading my mind. I'm currently bidding on e-bay for one of these (older stainless steel model that everyone says is better than the new models?)

I'm also looking at a Char-Broil 940x charcoal grill (http://www.grilllovers.com/shopItemDetail.aspx?ItemID=94005). This thing looks great. Big, no fluff (I hate all of the side burners & crap) and well made. Thanks for the feed back guys!!

Lots of water and plenty of sunlight?

My brother-in-law has his own company. He owns some nurseries and transports trees and shrubs and stuff all over the northeast.

He owns 3 houses on Long Island, so he can't be doing too bad...
