You can learn alot about a person by observing how they react under duress. Here's what happened to me today;

I got home and poured a nice big 32oz beer in a big cup. As I was topping it off, the spigot started blowing foam, and I knew that this was my last beer for a while. I called my wife and asked her to pick up another barrel, but she wouldn't be home for another hour.

So I grab a CAO black and a book and head for the porch. 1/4 of the way into the smoke, I notice how wonderfully the ash is hanging on. Just then, the wind picks up and the ash blows off and lands directly in my almost FULL beer with a short hiss.

Would you;

1) Get angry, chuck the beer in the yard, and go get a drink of something else.

2) Say hell with it and just drink it, ash & all.

3) Stare at the beer for a moment or two, then gently remove the clump of black gooey ash......finish the beer.

4)Pour the beer through a 10 micron filter and enjoy it.

First beer: #3

Sixth beer: #2

Never #1; and #4 is too much trouble.

I would have had more beer on hand in the first place...the greatest combatant to stress is preparedness.

thats your first problem right there...if you're drinking out of cans...don't wait for the ash to fall into them, chuck them immediately

Yes...I am a beer snob

Or get out a stir stick and stir it up before drinking.

That is what a real man would do. LOL!

Well, I'm a Wisconsin guy, so this answer is easy.

#3- I'd dip my filthy hand inside and scoop out the ash, fling the ash into the front yard, and laugh at myself for being an idiot.

Throw the beer away was an option? Are you SURE you are a beer drinker? ........... j/k

Remember, you're alone...

Put the mug to your lips as if you are going to take a huge gulp but instead, blow off the foam like they used to do in the old movies. Watch it spray all over the place. You're bound to remove some ash. Whatever ash and foam combo you didn't waft onto the floor, walls, and windows should be declared the winner and be left in the mug to enjoy the ride down the brew chute.

I chose option #3.

The ash came out easily.

It wasn't a great beer, but a good beer (Yuengling is my house beer on tap), andmore importantly, it was the last beer.

I just found out NYS gave use an extra 60 days to return our kegs (was $75 deposit with 30 days to return the keg or you loose the deposit). So I go and buy a keg and guess what - CO2 empty. I go to refill CO2 and the tank is out of date - and it take 3-4 days to requalify tank. So I have a new keg of beer and no CO2, which mean no beer. To answer your question, just drink it at least your have it!!!

Andy,

Do you find yourself drinking way more beer with a keg system than you did with bottles and cans? Are you saving money in the long run?

I donated a great co2 system before I moved because the mover would not take it and I had no room for it in my pickup. Sad, sad. But, I did take the tax deduction.
