Where is it written in the Constitution, in what section or clause is it contained, that you may take children from their parents and parents from their children, and compel them to fight the battle in any war in which the folly or the wickedness of government may engage it? -Daniel Webster, constitutional lawyer, orator, and 19th century US Congressman

that's a pretty stupid quote considering the wickedness or folly of any entity is a subjective topic. sounds like a whiney or bitter individual, but i really don't know anything about daniel webster. was he a really arrogant SOB?

Lofty,

Daniel Webster gave us many of the rights that we have today. He battled for our constitution and protected our amended rights with blood and guts.

He may sound whiney, and I do disagree with some of his methods, but it's because of the likes of him that your are able to keep and bear arms, and to have freedom of speech.

A true patriot.

He even protected the rights of certain idiots that brag about being proud to be an American, but haven't done a damn thing but joke about his and other great peoples names. Foolish men are lucky when someone else looks out for them.

One man gave us our rights? That's a gross misrepresentation of historical facts. They don't take kids any more. You gotta be 18 to get drafted.

Who said anything about kids? Did I miss something?

Ricks initial post said children. You need to take those blinders off, friend.

Just what kind of a bigot are you???

1) Seems to me that *ALL* Rick did was post a *historically* *accurate* quote, offering it up for general comment.

If that is "screwin the pooch", then I would venture that you have a strange relationship wih your canine friends...

2) adroomi merely offered a little historical (and patriotic) clarification. Again, he was historically accurate.

NOTHING either rick or adroomi said was anything different from what I heard from EVERY civics teacher I had growing up. It's just the facts, ma'm.

Sheesh...

Note to self: don't respond to post by idiots and bigots in the future. By defnition, ya can't win, and it's just a waste of bandwidth...

Here's an idea: those half-dozen or so of us who seem to take exception with EVERYthing each other posts should all get together some sunny afternoon, smoke a whole bunch of cigars (or whatever), drink a whole bunch of adult beverages, then just duke it out and get it all out of our systems so we can drop the griping and sniping and snotty comments and get back to civil discussion.

if i remember correctly, "the devil and miss jones" followed the mainstream success of "deep throat."

by making "deep throat" a kind of shtick comedy it got past the censors and hit the theaters as main stream.

this is a strange country as far as advertising goes. most things are sold with the aid of "tits and asses"

sexy tires, sexy cars, sexy every thing except---

some drug like viagra has the goofy looking husband and the plain semi-doudy housewife. he has the **** eating grin of a nincompoop and she is like edith in the old tv show.

but he has a secret whioch gives him a longer golf stroke and bigger glass of iced tea for his wife.

his wife walks around with that tall glass as though no one can recognize it as a phalic symbol.

then he lets his neighbors in on the ecret and the two couples dance silly, but we know they are possibbly going to swap later.

what a strange ad, cold, bland, asexual, and silly.

Yo Dwallen:

>Once again the maven screws the pooch and in a heartbeat here's super adroomi to the rescue, ain't love grand.

Just what kind of a bigot are you???

a) How many kinds are there?

1) Seems to me that *ALL* Rick did was post a *historically* *accurate* quote, offering it up for general comment.

a) The maven has been known to change wordings and omit words whenever it suits his needs.

If that is "screwin the pooch", then I would venture that you have a strange relationship wih your canine friends...

a) Please do not judge others by your own sexual preferences.

2) adroomi merely offered a little historical (and patriotic) clarification. Again, he was historically accurate.

a) hmmm adroomi and patriotic in the same sentence, hmmm now try using the maven and truthfulness in the same sentence.

NOTHING either rick or adroomi said was anything different from what I heard from EVERY civics teacher I had growing up. It's just the facts, ma'm.

a) Let us know when your finished, growing up that is.

Sheesh...

Note to self: don't respond to post by idiots and bigots in the future. By defnition, ya can't win, and it's just a waste of bandwidth...

a) I agree, seeing how this was the mavens post.

I haven't seen that ad. I don't see too much US tv. I see the programs, but not the ads.

Yes, for a media source that uses sex to sell everything, you would think that the people wouldn't mind something a bit more sexy for a sexual aid advertisement.
