What happened to common courtesy, Holding a door for someone behind you.

Opening a car door for your wife or girfriend.

Everyday on the news you find out about another child being abducted...When i was a child (Some 40 or so years ago) I do not recall it being such a problem. When I was at a friends house I know there parents were lokking out for me as my parents did when they were at my house.If there ever was such a problem it would have been dealt with accordignly and the perpetrator never would be seen or heard from again...

When did things change from helping the elderly to preying on the elderly or the weaker and more vulnerable.

When did sports players that don't even work twelve months out of the year start making more money than Docters....

Why should a woman be afraid to walk down the street at any time of the day being afraid that she may be attacked...

Why do so many people continue to look the other way instead of getting involved...

Why do the criminals have more rights than there victims...

What is so hard to understand about the word "illegal" when referring to illegal aliens.

Here's a true story . . . .

In yesterday's local section of our town newspaper, on page 3, there were two stories side by side . . . . the story on the left was "Man sentenced to 12 years in jail for child porn" . . . . he was found guilty of sending an undercover cop photographs of child pornography . . . .

. . . the story directly next to it was "Cop abuses 2 women, gets maximum sentence, 1 1/3 to 4 years" . . . . . this guy actually physically, forcibly sexually assaulted two women, and when it's all done, he'll have done less than a year in jail . . . .

What the F**k is wrong with our legal system? Okay, there is no question that traffickers of child porn should face penalties, but a guy who looks at a picture (and is not involved in the manufacture of said picture) is sent away for 12 years, while a public servant who forces a woman to have oral sex with him will likely be out of jail in time for the next super bowl?

There is just something screwed up with all this . . .

R6_80922, you raise interesting points. However, I do have 1 large problem. Everybody wants to send everyone to jail for life the second they are accused.

Criminals deserve no rights. That is, until YOU are the one accused. All of a sudden, there is no more crying about bleeding heart liberals. Suddenly, the tune is "I WANT MY LAWYER! I KNOW MY RIGHTS! I WANT MY APPEAL!"

It's the classic conservative "Nobody has rights... except for me." arguement that I have to choke down all the time.

I believe you are innocent until proven guilty. If you are convicted beyond a reasonable doubt via concrete hard evidence. I.E. DNA, video, etc, etc. You should have no rights once the cell door closes. If you commited and act of atrosity such a murder, rape, molesting kids and have been proven guilty you should have no more rights plain and simple.

I have a hard arguement to swallow when there are people fighting for the rights of a person who raped, tortured and killed a little kid, and adult or whomever. It just makes me sick to my stomach that they fight for their rights.

It makes me sick when you have an inmate in a federal maximum security having a right to complain to the warden that he only got 3 chicken nuggets on his tray and bubba in the next cell got 4. It makes me sick when a person comes in to do a survey that the cell a max custody inmate is inhuman as she put it. But she doesn't see the BIG F**king picture that that inmate is in a max custody prison cell because he is a HIGH RISK inmate that can't get along with other inmates, staff, is an escape risk, or a threat to national security....no...they fight for the inmates rights. It makes me sick when a liberal celebrity would come into the prison and treat staff like crap and call us Aceholes because we were viloating his fathers rights. Give me a freakin break....up until recently he was one of the few inmates to every kill a federal judge and attempted to escape from a federal prison for said crime. I have a hard time swallowing protecting the rights of a person who guns down 6 police officers when they try to bust him for selling drugs. I have a hard time protecting the rights of a person who walks on to a green in a golf course where a US Dignitary was golfing and shoots him at point blank range trying to protect his drug operation in Jamaica. I have hard time protecting the rights of people who fill a truck with ammonium nitrate and and excellerant and detonate it killing many people to include women and children. I have a hard time protecting the rights of a POS that robs an elderly person because they are to lazy to get a freakin job. I have a hard time protecting the rights of a spy who sells information to including the names and locations of other 27 operatives who are killed as a result of this spy.

Thee a view of my view points on those people who fight for the rights of the those criminals and inmates etc.

You make a good point. But, if we refuse the rights of criminals, then we are no better then they are.

These inmates will be released one day. I, for one, would never want to be in the same society as someone who was treated as you recommened. Contrary to your beliefs, the prison system is not just a punishment system. It's also for rehabilitation. Take someone who was busted for petty theft. Throw them in a prison ruled by complete anarchy and abuse, and he'll come out a hardened murderer.

Yes, I will defend prisoner's rights. You are correct that it's sometimes taken overboard, but that happens outside of prison also. The constitution grants these men rights, as all men are created equal. Just because criminals act in the wrong does not make them not human. Soldiers fight and day everyday for someone's right to protest them and burn a flag.

I just think you're a little near-sighted on this issue. You have to consider the fact that these people WILL be let out and WILL be integrated back into society again.

Rick, I think what many don't understand about "liberals" is that even if they don't personally approve of an idea, they allow others the freedom to them, within limits. Limits for "liberals", who tend to want to explore just about anything at an intellectual level, are often drawn at threats of physical aggression.
