LOL!!Hey Hoggy, Rick!

Yeah, Mimi's still a hot tomato.

Well, mebbe a little ripe.

However, Ducovney's receding chin has all but disappeared.

May have been raptured already. Dunno.

A fascinating, disturbing movie. The only attempt I know of to portray on screen the rapture as a literal, corporeal event. For this alone, the film makers deserve credit for a sense of daring. Definitely a thought-provoking film, regardless of where you fall on the spectrum of faith or eschatological perspective. And here I thought I was the only one who had seen this obscure flick.

the film maker did get excellent reviews for his ability to bring this to the screen the way he did.

but, you use words like eschatological and you will be alone.

This was a well done movie, but I did not care for it too much! Still they did a great job with the thing!

PM,

One of the many benefits of attending seminary is that in addition to interesting content, you pick up all sorts of interesting verbiage.

For the record, I didn't like the movie either--as entertainment. But the film deserves praise for presenting a very tricky topic with an unabashedly fresh (ironically, in this case, more traditional than progressive) perspective. No one will argue the fact that it's a thought-provoking film.

Another film, different in presentation but still wrestling with the inbreaking of the divine--and in this case, I very much enjoyed it--is The Ninth Configuration starring Stacy Keatch. I highly recommend this obscure flick for the way it struggles with very human and supernatural questions. You won't be disappointed in this. Written by the same guy who wrote The Exorcist.

I loved this movie.

Could be because I was groomed to be a hellfire & brimstone preacher.

Then I discovered SD&RR...

not only topless but bottomless and in a menage et trois.

that's before she got religion and ruined a perfectly happy life, hers.

I'm curious Rick...what did YOU think of the movie?

I saw it years ago when it came out on VHS. Your recent "revival" of it is interesting.

I saw it when it was in theatrical release and thought it was a very interesting and thought provoking movie. I would like to see it again, all these years later, and see if my perspectives have changed.

i rented the dvd after listening to an interview with duchovny on the actors studio.

i thought the movie did a good job portraying someone who found religion as a saving grace to her life which had no meaning, just endless sex with no real meaning.

how accuratly it portrayed her conversion and her contacts with other born again christians, is something i can't comment on because i have no knowledge of how a newly born again christian would act.

my guess is that it is a fairly accurate account.

Speaking of Mimi Rogers... did you know that Tom Cruise had her, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz... and now he's dating Katie Holmes?

Money... women... how did this guy get so lucky?
