Hello,
I'm looking to smoke as many cigars as humanly possible tonight (ok, probably 2 at the most). I have never had Single Malt Scotch Whiskey, but I hear it goes great with a good smoke. I welcome your opinions on a reasonably priced (less than $35 for a 750 ml) Single Malt Scotch Whiskey, that is as smooth as a babies bottom. Thanks, Ken

OK.... here's some suggestions of single malts in your price range of approx $35 per bottle:
Glen Garioch 15 yr old (good stuff!)
Glenfarclas 10 yr old (the 17 yr old is MUCH better, but much more expensive)
Glenlivet 12 yr old (this one is very SMOOTH!)
Glenmorangie --- any (probably my personal favorites are the 12 yr olds in port and sherry finishes about $40.00 and more full flavored, but definately worth every penny)
Oban 14 yr old (another smooth scotch for around $35-$40)
well, off the top of my head that's what I can think of in your price range. If you want to spend about $10-$15 dollars more I say pick a bottle of Glenmorangie 18 yr old Rare Highland Scotch. Maybe not as silky smooth but just about the best single malt scotch bottles you can buy for that price (about $50.00 a bottle and again-- WORTH EVERY PENNY!!)

In that price range try the Glenlivet 12 Year Old aged in French Oak Casks. Or try the Macallan 12 year old.
Both are very smooth.

Forget smooth. You want a scotch with some personality. Try Laphroaig (the 10 year, there is one that is aged longer, but it loses something with the extra wood time). Salty, smoky and ohhh so good.

Dahlwinnie (15 years) or Dalmore Cigar Malt (12 years) - both are simply great with a good gar!!!

They all sound good to me, but sadly, I do not drink Scotch! I prefer Knob Hill or Booker's and in the "lesser" price range Jack Daniels Black Label or Maker's Mark as they all go great with a great cigar! Charlie

Thanks for the great advice. I tried the Glenlevit 12 YR old Scotch and I was very pleased. I think I prefer it over cognac. I can't wait to try all of the other recommendations. Thanks, Ken

Ever try Laphroaig? I know I didnt spell it right, but it is a wonderful scotch, with a smoky aroma reminiscent of bicycle innertube patch. Yes, I am old enuff to remember when bicycle tires had innertubes.
