I just had a Santa Rosa #4 yesterday. It had a beautiful very dark maduro wrapper, being a maduro loverthe wrapper enticed me. However, it tunneled so badly that I had over half the stick left when I was done smoking it. Has anyone else experienced this problem with the Santa Rosa?

Let them "cure" awhile and stabilize in your humidor. (2-3 weeks) SR is a pretty "dry" cigar normally. I have had this problem with them and Te-Amo as well. Patience my friend.

Actually, my Santa Rosa Torpedos burn just about more evenly than any other cigar I smoke. I love them for that reason. They truly are one of my favorite cigars. I have tried many different brands, but I just love to light up one of those torpedos. I have tried both the natural and the maduro, and I like the natural better. Yes, I love a good strong smoke like the Indian Tobac Super Fuente, but when comparing side by side, the natural Santa Rosa Torpedo seems creamier.

I recently won an auction for SR Maduro Churchills. I experienced the tunneling as well. It's too bad because it started out as an excellent smoke. My wife even like it and had a few puffs. I will wait a few weeks before trying another one, letting them rest in the humidor.

Not uncommon. Outer portions of the cigar may be too moist. Inside burns, outside smolders. Let sit @ 72% and things should even out.
