49-50...Making plans for my retirement...selling business interests, paying off my home mortgage and all other debts, buying long term care insurance....and reading bedtime stories to my six-year-old daughter.

Whatever you do, don't turn 50. I broke a bone for the first time at 50. I got my first cavity at 50. My eyes developed bags under them at 50. My concentration took a hike at 50. My job took a turn for the worse at 50. Other than that, though, 50 wasn't problematic for me.

I got a ways to go at 35, but believe it or not, I look forward to it. The sooner I hit 60, the sooner I can sit on my ass and do nothing but drink beer and smoke cigars.

While collecting 2 retirement pensions of course...

I do enjoy living in the moment right now though. At 35 i'm old enough to know better and young enough to recover quickly because I did it anyway.

"...old enough to know better and young enough to recover quickly because I did it anyway."

True, even at 39. But come November, I'm screwed.

I forgot to mention...the six-year-old, to whom I read bedtime stories, turns 19 next month. It's been a pretty terrific run.

I made 49 last December. At least I can still say I'm in my 40's for another 7 months, LOL.

Thanks BOTL,As I'm afew months away from being 49,my health has changed,it's not like being in your 30's when you have tons of energy. Although I can still do all the things, work, play,it just takes me longer to get around.

Just some words of advice,Do what you can,be with whom you can,and enjoy life.

I also have a daughter who's a school teacher and a son who graduates from Ball State. Yea I can remember when they were 6,12,18,24......

As for retirement there is none for my future, who in the heck wants to sit around and be idle.
