The Discovery Channel is having a program hosted by Matt Lauer (sp) on June 5th to reveal who people picked as The Greatest American - here's the link to the web page for it - they have little bios I guess on those in the running - just wanted to know who everyone thought was the Greatest American.

i nominate joe average

he's the guy that is maried and has a few kids.

he has a job he doesn't like, but he gets up early for his hour commute, goes to his job and returns late from his hour commute because there was an accident on the freeway.

he eats by himself with his wife for company, she has already fed the kids and eaten.

he fixes one of the kids toys, plays on the floor with them and finally puts them in bed with a kiss and a tuck in and a glass of water and leave the little light on dad.

he and his wife sit down together and talk about this and that and then he takes his shower and he and his wife go to bed together holding hands.

he will do this again tomorow and for all the tomorrows to come to make sure his family is provided for.

i nominate not only joe average but mrs joe average as the real greatest americans.

I don't know why I bother posting anymore...SIGHS. I guess I'll know better next time. At least I know I'm safe posting updates on my pregnancy, I guess I'll limit my posting to just that from now on....

Liz,

Go ahead and rant. Maybe it will clear things up. People don't know they're making you mad if you don't tell them.

The POINT of this post was for people to follow the link look at the NAMES listed on said link and then pick who they thought was the Greatest American from the LIST of people. Simple right???? blahhhhhhh

Liz,

You didn't explain that. You simply asked who we thought the greatest American was. I didn't know we were supposed to pick from that list.....which by the way, I choose to pick "none" of the above, as I feel that none of them are worthy.

Now your recent post about your mom....that's a different story. I like that one. That one is nice. I hope to hear a few more stories from all about their "greatest" American. Your folks sound like some really good people. As are you for helping them out when they need you.

Of the men in Aviation, I would have to say Alan Shepard, although my heart says Neil Armstrong. At least they mentioned Chuck Yeager. When Yeager Broke the Sound Barrier, No One Thought it Could Be Done. Everyone thought the sound barrier was a farm that could be bought high in the sky. Yeager Proved Everyone Wrong. With Shepard, No One Knew The Dangers Involved. Sure, the Russians had sent Gagarian up 1st, but with their secrecy, we didn't know what we were getting into. There were alot of "if's" back then and all involved were worried sick about him . . . Plus, that 5 iron shot on the Moon is Classic !

Anyway . . .

Adroomi,

I thought this would have made things clear

here's the link to the web page for it - they have little bios I guess on those in the running

I guess next time I post something like this I'll make sure I make it clearer.

And thank you for your comments on my other thread. Both my mom and step dad have been down hard roads, as most of us have in one way or another. I'm just hoping things start looking better for them, maybe once they are back in Upstate NY where they plan on trying to go before we leave for Guam things will get better. I pray for them every night as I do for everyone on here among a slew of others. I always fall back on God only gives us what we can handle, He knows how strong we are.
