We just received this notification from PayPal: "your account has been limited for violating PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy regarding Tobacco. The Policy prohibits the use of PayPal purchase or sell of tobacco, including cigarettes, cigars, and smokeless tobacco, due to the many difficulties inherent in assuring that tobacco sales comply with applicable laws."

I know we all talked on here about this months ago but they never contacted us and never said anything about it. This is the first time we have heard anything from PayPal regarding this. They just shut down the ability to place orders and also for us to transfer any money that is already in our account — with no notice! Until we completely remove them from our site, our account is restricted. I have tried to contact them to see if we can have a temporary reprieve until Monday so we can get another vendor, but I have not heard back from them. Nothing like doing this on a Saturday afternoon.

What the F***. These people are screwed up. I think I will leave them off the website and still find someone else to take payments.

Rabid Liberals from the E place (who owns Paypal now) have infiltrated their ranks, that's all.

They are very anti gun also. They give anyone dealing with firearms and parts, magazines, ect the same BS even though all new (and most used)internet gun sales have to transfer through a FFL.

Very few online cigar shops use Paypal any longer.

I've also used Western Union. It may be a good choice. It's a known brand name. I think that means a lot to people.

in case you do not have their phone number

(888)221-1161. don't press any menu options, just wait and someone will come on the line.

as WaldoAR15 said, they are a bunch of conservatives anyway, or was it liberals. i don't know what that has to do with anyway.

ebay is where all the screw ups are anyway. a few years ago they wouldn't let me sell an empty cuban cigar box.

now, maybe because they need the business, cigars are being sold, not for consumption, but for the value of the box. the box is worth about half a buck but the auctions go a lot higher. i wonder why.

i buy my cigars here on cbid.

Cigarbidwidow,

DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINK IN THE EMAIL!!!!!

This is a spoof email created by some cyber punk, trying to get you to give him your personal information.

The link may say "Paypal.com", and may look like a paypal page when you click on it, but it isn't really paypal.

These emails are everywhere. They target people who go onto Ebay, Paypal, even certain banks.

When you recieve an email that is supposedly from Ebay or Paypal, and asks you to click on a link and "re-register" or "confirm" your personal and financial data, IT IS A FRAUDULENT EMAIL!!!!

Forward any email like this to "[email protected]" or "[email protected]".

When I first started using Ebay, I received an email like this and had the same response as you. I cliked on the link and put in my ebay username, password, credit card#, etc....

About a week later, someone was using my ebay account to sell bogus items and my account WAS shut down by Ebay. It was in the course of getting my account re-activated that I found out about these types of emails. It turned out to be someone in Italy who had sent out the email and was using the info.

So, don't click on the link, and forward the email to the proper address. They will get back to you and let you know it was a fake.

Good luck,

jcwbnimble.

Thanks every one for the info. I am looking at other options. We are even going to check with David's bank (the business account bank charges a fortune). We'll have to wait and see but I am NOT putting PayPal back on. I can't take a chance of them saying they are shutting us down again. For the weekend, we have asked that people call or email their orders. It isn't as convenient or efficient but it will work for a couple days.

It was a legitimate email. I called them (without clicking the link) and it was accurate. The email David posted was after I spoke to them and wrote them an email.

I got burnt on an AOL email a few years ago. It looked exactly like AOL and my trial was just about over so I fell for it. They stole my credit card number and tried to buy a couple things (video camera). Lukcily the card was maxed out and it was a company I had bought from before so they called me when the address was different. Everything turned out ok but I learned my lesson. I never click on the links. I go directly to the URL.

Thanks again.

Lauren
