This is a picture from Time magazine back in WWII. Supposedly the soldier with the white dot over his helmet is my great uncle. They are in the 77th infantry on Okinawa, and are listening to reports of VE over the radio. He was killed not long after. The patch is not his, but is a WWII vintage patch from the 77th 'New York' division that he would have worn. Most of the men in this division were from NY, and NJ. He was a Jersey boy.
