Yeah... and that was December 7, 1941. I remember that date VERY well. First and last time I ever went to Captain's mast, 1991.

Also known as Office Hours, or Article 15.

you had an article 15? say it isn't so, joe.

care to discuss it? remember you are reading from a person that had many, many 15's and always found guilty of insubordination.

(rickamaven, the following is a joke, a joke delivered by John Belishi's character 'Bluto' during the movie Animal House. I want to say this up front, so your crotchety self doesn't get all unwound on America's lack of historical knowledge).

I'm just using it to have some fun.

here goes...

'Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?! Helllll Noooo!!!!'

Rick,

Failure to obey a lawful order (article 92) and unauthorized absence (article 86).

It was late, about 10pm... I was stationed in the Philippines at the time and they had an 11pm curfew. We had to be out the gate and in our houses by 11pm. I was still on the ship and had duty the next day. I was finished rebuilding a pump and I told my Leading Petty Officer I was going home. He said, no. I said yes. He said, if you go, I will put you on report. I threw him my pen and left the ship.

3 months later I went to Article 15 and received 45 days of extra duty (2 hours a day of extra work) and I was reduced in rank to E-3, but it was suspended for 6 months, meaning if I screwed up again in the next 6 months, i'd lose 2 pay grades.

Never got in trouble again. Well... never got taken to an article 15 again.

I was "offered" Article 15 on 3 occasions. I refused all of them on advice of counsel. One of the post Judge Advocates was a drinking buddy of mine. He said there's no way that they are going to convene a "Courts Martial" because your sideburns are too long or your shirt wasn't tucked. It burned my CO's ass, but he had to let the matters drop.

Most GIs just roll over and take it. You don't always have to take it.

I told my 1st Sgt, "The only way you could hurt me with a Page 11 is to roll it into a cone and stab me in the eye with it."

He tried.
