my dog has an embeded chip to enable hime to be indentified if he is lost. it is not a tracking chip.

my car has a jojack tracking device.

if you had a young child would you want to embed a tracking chip in the child?

I would. If there were no health risks etc. But then I am not worried about "big Brother" spying on me. I am more concerned with "big Government" rolling over me. If it would help find my kid if stolen(like your car) I do it. Also as my children cannot tell anyone who they are, it would most likly be used if they became lost.

I'd settle for a tracking chip for my car keys and wallet.

Our kids eat Dorito's, Lays, Ruffels, the only tracking that needs to be done is from Bag to mouth while engulfed in their TV shows ;0)

I watched a program on Discovery awhile back... From Tactical to Practical was the name of it I believe?? anyway they were talking about the chips in Vehicles from 1999/2000?? to present... every vehicle made has a tracking chip in them in case of theft?? I cannot recall if they explained how they know which vehicle to shut down? but it was pretty cool to watch these cops in high speed chases and then the next thing you see is the vehicle shut down completely and come to a stop... I recall thinking to myself.. if this is possible then somewhere out there someone knows exactly what you may be doing parked in that corn field fogging up the windows? Semi Trucks have these systems in them also I believe? the Dispatcher knows exactly where these trucks are at all times and how many hours the motors have been running??

Chips.. No Thanks I like CheetO's!!!

I might consider it if I had control...meaning I would program the chip after insertion in a unique code known only to me and then allow the authorities to use only if needed...that being said I do not believe the technology is secure enough where some slave trade kiddie porn industry tekkie would not be able to overide the chip and block any kind of homing device or signal...

So since control is a govt thing I doubt if this scenario would exist...

usahog, in 18 wheelers it is not a chip, it's a satalite comunication system which can track the truck as well as allowing the dispatcher to montior speed, engine RPM and some have capability to shut the engine down as well. A piece of tin foil or just unplugging the cable to the antena will disable this system. there are other systems that work off cell phone towers.

As far as putting them in my kids I'm with Pablo. 666

never...My friends all think I am crazy and paranoid, but I have read 1984 too many times and I see our personal freedoms slipping away every day. Whenever I get into this type of arguement with someone (and I am so vehemently against it that it happens a lot) I ask them this: What would your grandparents have thought, growing up in the fifties if they knew that there were cameras everywhere in town, the government was patrolling your private mail, they were putting chips to track people, and they have devices in cell phones, cars and everywhere else that can help locate almost anyone, anywhere at anytime? I would imagine they would have considered that worse off than communist russia. To me that is just giving too much control to people who shouldn't have control over your life.

usahog, that is a sore subject in the trucking biz. It is some what related to the chip implant. there are some in our society that think when a person drives a big rig they give up all rights to privacy.
