I've got plenty Rick...you know that.

As for the others, I don't know, maybe they're at McDonalds or something......

OK...what the hell...I'll bite.

However, my disclaimer: I don't trust the federal gov't no matter who is in power. So this isn't anything for/against any party or person or endorsement of any party/person.

The Iraq thing, to me, was always fishy at best. And I am not naive enough to think any military action endorsed by any President is pure in its intent. Even the most silver of clouds is lined with bullsh*t. That's politics.

As far as the specific Downing Street Memo...I have not read it nor have I heard much discussion of it. It is not difficult for me to believe the claims the people on the video were making. However, I know that's just one side of the political coin.

If Bush did orchestrate our involvement in Iraq before or in lieu of "justifiable" evidence, he would not be the first to be charged with such action. Seems FDR himself has suspicion around him regarding "inviting" Japan to hit Pearl Harbor. I don't know if any of this is true, but it's there.

I'm done not making sense...time for morning smoke.

Adroomi,

Could you please explain that McDonalds remark to me. I am hoping that wasn't meant to be a put down of some kind. I for one didn't follow the link because I know as well as do a lot of others it does absolutely NO good to debate any political issue because you have one side thinking one way and the other side thinking the other and neither one will budge so why even bother and when it comes to anything about 9/11 like on the other thread I keep anything about that day to myself because it is personal to me. I lost people I know on that day and I'm not about to get into an argument with anyone about it. Believe whatever the hell you want to believe.

I for one, have something a lot more important to concentrate on than politics. I have a baby boy coming in 5 days and a future husband coming home in 3 months time - those two things are the only thing important to me - and of course the rest of my family and friends. Everything else can just take care of itself as far as I'm concerned.

Ok...I read it

http://www.downingstreetmemo.com/memo.html

And I read most of the commentary on the site.

1) This memo is not PROOF of anything. It might serve as a thread in the tapestry being woven to convince us that the Bush administration lied. Again, my mistrustful nature doesn't need much. However, this is not PROOF.

2) Though refuted on the site, my main contention with the memo would be that this is a report of minutes of a high UK gov't meeting. I don't see Bush's signature or Rumsfeld's etc. anywhere on it. Therefore, I would refrain from considering it condemning evidence.

3) Authentic because White House won't deny it? Come on. Reticence from the White House may be frustrating and sometimes suspicious, but not proof of guilt.

I say all this not to defend Bush or the reasons for war or anything...just to say that I can see how this memo can be argued against.

As far as the war...husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, siblings, loved ones, etc. are dying and losing precious time with loved ones. I appreciate the sacrifice they make as well as the sacrifice of those they leave home. Right or wrong, justified or not, our soldiers take up arms so we can have the freedom to post on cigar forums and talk like we know what's going on. For that luxury and privilege, may I never dishonor those who give it to me.

good thinking. stay away from negative thoughts by concentrating on rainbows and birds chirping and light rain and cool breezes.

think about the first time he takes a step and the first time he says a word and the first time he point to the sky ad says airplane.

listen to calm soothing music.

the best to you and sterling.

Thank you Rick.

And in no way am I saying I'm going to be burying my head in the sand like an ostrich, it is just time right now to concentrate on the good things that are coming into my life. By the end of the year we will be in a whole new place in the world and starting a whole new life together. I will have a family of my own that I have wanted and dreamed about for so very long. I count my blessings every day and thank God for them. I continue to pray for everyone, including our government officials. But right now it's time for me and my family.

the memo doesn't prove anything, but it invits congressional inquiry. cspan showed part of the democratic congress, refused a full size room to hold hearings by the republican leadership, in a small crowded room hearing testimony as they are required to do by law.

one of the witnesses who spoke about asking for a full inquiry, was the mother of a son killed last year in iraq. she wants to know if he died in a war that was being promoted for personal and business reasons.

the words high crimes and misdeamenors and impeachment are not used superficially.

I do agree...there is enough for an inquiry. But refresh my memory...didn't Congress say OK to going ahead with Iraq? I might be wrong.
