Ladies and Gentlemen,
Many of you have Bunn Home Brewing Systems (coffeemakers) in your office, work area, church or home. I just received a recall notice from Bunn and returned our home and office coffee makers. The Bunn-O-Matic office here in Springfield will receive them at the door and repair or replace them within an hour or so. Otherwise you have to send the coffeemaker to the address they will send to you, with you paying the shipping or accept a 50% off coupon toward the purchase of a new brewer.
Here is the basic content of the letter.
Bunn Home Brewing System, Model Nos. GR-10 B, GR-10W, B-10B, B-10W, and BT-10B
Return of Units Manufactured Between February 5, 2001 and May 17, 2004
In certain of these coffeemakers manufactured between February 5, 2001 and May 17, 2004, the plastic pour-in bowl and lid immediately above the coffeemaker's water tank may melt or ignite as a result of electrical arcing. YOU SHOULD STOP USING THIS COFFEEMAKER IMMEDIATELY!
The only coffeemakers covered in this return program are Model Nos. GR-10B, GR-10W, B-10B, B-10W or BT-10B (or one of these same model numbers ending with the additional letter D) manufactured between February 5, 2001 and May 17, 2004. Other model Bunn coffeemakers and Bunn model GR-10B, GR-10W, B-10B, B-10W and BT-10B coffeemakers with different manufacturing dates are not involved in this program.
The model number is located on the sides of the carton in which the coffeemaker was sold, and the six digit date code is stamped on a small white or silver sticker on top of the carton (if there is a seventh digit on the carton date code, ignore it and use the first six digits). In addition, the model number and the date code are stamped on the small white or silver stickers on the bottom of the coffeemaker.
(When checking under the coffeemaker, remember that if it is plugged in the water in the reservoir is hot. Be very careful when looking under the machine. It is best to unplug it and let it cool or pour the hot water out.)
If you have any questions about to to safely identify the model or date code on the bottom of the coffeemaker, please call (800) 385-2652 for assistance.
The six digit date code will read as follows: two-digit day of the month (01-31), two-digit week of the year (10-52), two-digit year (01-04). If there is a seventh digit, you should ignore it and use the first six digits. The following table will help you determine if your machine is recalled.

Six-digit date code ending in 04 AND middle two digits between 01 and 21.
