I agree with RDC that nukes are an option. Let's nuke London because there is a sleeper cell there. Then we can nuke NY, LA, Boston, Louisville, KY, etc...I bet we can wipe terrorism from the face of the planet if we just kill everyone.

Buckwheat was making a point using sarcasm. I (holding a PhD in sarcasm) completely understood his point.

Correct me if I am wrong here Julian: What he was trying to say was how can you say that nuclear weapons are an option? These cells are all over the world in every major city. How do you propose to use nuclear weapons without causing massive injury to innocents? I understand your fervor, but lets be realistic.

Bingo, Shawn. Give the man a cigar!!! The very nature of terrorism dictates that you cannot fight it like a conventional war.

Scary, Yes...you are scary...

London attacks were predicted as "inevitable"

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20050707/wl_uk_afp/britainattackswarnings_050707162543

LONDON (AFP) - The bomb attacks which have struck at the heart of London came as no surprise to the authorities.

For more than a year, police and politicians have been warning that a terrorist strike against the British capital, like the one which occurred Thursday, was highly probable, largely due to Britain's support of the US-led invasion of

Iraq.

As far back as March 2004, in the aftermath of the bombings in Madrid which left 191 dead, the then commissioner of London's Metropolitan Police, Sir John Stevens, and the city's mayor, Ken Livingstone, both went on record to say it was "inevitable" that one day London would be the target of terrorist attacks.

Livingstone said: "It would be miraculous if, with all the terrorist resources arranged against us, terrorists did not get through, and given that some are prepared to give their own lives, it would be inconceivable that someone does not get through to London."

And with alarming prescience, Stevens warned: "This is not just about the railways, the underground, it's about buses, roads, pubs, nightclubs and the like."

He estimated that around 100 people trained by Al-Qaeda leader

Osama bin Laden were at large in Britain and as many as 200 people could be involved in planning terrorist attacks.

With the authorities taking an increasingly tough line on Islamic fundamentalists, anti-terrorist police issued repeated warnings that the city was at risk and last December Stevens revealed that police had foiled a series of Madrid-style attacks -- similar to those which struck on Thursday.

Prime Minister

Tony Blair echoed Stevens' warning in February when he spoke of "hundreds of people" possibly engaged in preparing terror strikes against Britain.

A poster information campaign was launched in March to make Londoners aware of the potential danger to the capital's public transport system and in April, Stevens' successor, Sir Ian Blair, also warned of the possibility of an attack after Algerian Kamel Bourgass, a suspected member of Al-Qaeda, was sentenced to 17 years in prison for his part in a plot to attack a train with ricin poison after one of the biggest anti-terror operations ever mounted in Britain.

"There's real clarity now that Al-Qaeda affiliates are targeting Britain," Blair said.

The general election campaign in May saw British intelligence services involved in a massive security operation to protect candidates and public alike from the perceived terrorist threat.

The most significant attack on British interests abroad in the wake of the invasion of Iraq came in November 2003 when four suicide bombings, claimed by a wing of Al-Qaeda, targeted two synagogues, the British consulate and a British bank, killing 63 people, including the British consul general.

The UK is a strong nation and I think these attacks will make them stronger not weaker. Hopefully this will give everyone a little more reason to try to stomp out these terrorists. People shrug it off untill it hits close to home, our wake up call was 9/11, Britains was today. Unfortunatly, Spain for some reason didn't quite understand thier wakeup call, I think Britain will be different.

I posted this on another thread too, but it also fits here. We need to be more determined and more persistent than ever. Spain got punched in the nose and ran away. We and GB are taking the fight to them. We can't expect them to lay down and stop the violence, it will only continue. We shall find out who is more persistent and determined to win. It better be us.

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved, and always will solve the problems of the human race." President Theodore Roosevelt

We need to be more persistent and more determined than our enemies. Period.

I agree with nathan^. The Brits are a very strong people who can take what you throw at them and then turn it on and wipe you out. A perfect exanple of this was the Battle of Britan. Only this time, the enemy has different values and won't flat out fight you. If they did this would be over shortly. Hopefully Britan Will unite and stop all making such a fuss about sending troops abroad to fight. my 4c

This will just serve to cause British resolve to be even stronger! These ignorant savages that believe killing innocent people will make them more valuable to their "God" are a menace that needs to be irradicated! I bet the British will take stronger steps against the radical Islamic leaders in Britian as a result of this cowardly action!

One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half.

Wonder if the French and Germans will get off their couches and decide to join the war on Terror full time, rather than supporting bits and drabs! Might even cut into their income from supporting some of these terrorist groups!

Hopefully British citizens will prove as smart as Spanish citizens and determine who actually was responsible for these false flag operations.

After the spanish discovered the it was their own government was involved, they voted them out. The parallels abound between the two operations as well as motives!

In both cases it involved countries whose support for the "war on terror" was waning and needed a booster shot to bring them back onboard. Those pesky Downing Street memos will now fade away unless the true culprits are found.
