I need some new letterhead for my micro-business and want to list a fax number. I've been using the fax of one of my clients, but I should stop that imposition.

Instead of getting a dedicated phone line in my home, are there any good internet fax services?

Hmmm, I've not heard of an internet based fax service, but I'm sure you'll find something. But if I were you I'd just spend the money and buy software on your computer. That way you've got control over it. If you've got a scanner you can even scan documents to fax through your PC. Or better yet just buy a printer/fax/copier/scanner. I know these can be had for about 200 bucks.

a dedicated line shouldn't cost more then $25.00 a month.

if you can't afford that, you are not in business.

the fax line should help pay for itself and then some.

Thanks for the info.

Thom: I already have a p/s/c (plus a fax modem), but don't leave my computer on all day, plus I don't have a dedicated phone line for the fax.

Rick: The $25 is prolly about right. I am a CPA (a professional cheapskate and skinflint). It's said that I squeak when I walk.

I found www.packetel.com. I now receive faxes via my email account for $3.95/mo. Got my own local area code even. Since my email is via SBC, my mailbox is accessable from any internet computer. Therefore I'll be able to access my faxes (new and stored ones too) from anywhere. This has a lot advantages to a machine-based fax.
