Hey guys...new to CB 🙂 Great board, you all seem like regular people..not snobs like on some of the other boards. ANyhow..I've succumb to the CB addiction and got some boxes..now I need a larger humidor to age the things in. Anybody have one for sale/trade? thanks

I just got the El Ray humidor that I won last week. (I was in the same position as you - my old humi was too small). Got a good price and the construction is really solid. I haven't finished breaking it in yet but my only complaint so far is that the hygrometer that came with it is off by about 5 degrees, and there is no way to adjust it.

Forgot to mention. The ad says it will hold 150 smokes. 100-150 is probably more like it, depending on size.

Pov, I have an El Rey. Nice humi. The hygro can be adjusted, but it's a real pain in the a@@. Use one of those eyeglasses screw drivers. There is something that looks like a screw head in the largest hole in the center on the back. Push lightly and turn while watching the needle. (I think I used a toothpick)

Is that little red dot actually a screw? I'll have to try it. I was just going to use the hygrometer from my old humi, but the fit wouldn't be as snug.

Hey guys, buy a decent hygrometer! It is worth it to have one that works! Charlie

For me, the analog hygrometers in my humidors are there for decorative purposes only ... the digital unit is absolutely the way to go and has the added virtue of telling me the temperature as well ... and since large humidors hold more cigars than small ones, it's even more important to know what's going on in there.

Dakota11, If you just need storage capacity, use the search function and put in coolerdor. Or is that coolador. You get the idea.

given your presence on a site run by a company that sells cigars and related accessories, including humidors, the answer to your question is that no, you do not need to say more .... and good manners (to say nothing of the policy here) dictate that you should have said less.

I just bought the El Ray Humidor too. Are the two plastic humidifiers it came with effective? Or should I spend the $50 to $80 bucks for the Paradigm or Diamond Crown systems?

buy a better system ... I did and am glad I did ... I got and Oshkosh, and while I don't know how they differ from those you mention, I'm sure the difference is slight ... or build your own ... lots of guys here have done it ... instructions will follow very soon from someone, I'm guessing .... 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, ...

I bought the El Ray at an auction here, but I did use a number of other sites (including the one mentioned) to see what I should be paying. I originally wanted to get the Blue Daniel (thought it would look good in my bedroom) but it got bid up to more than it would cost to buy from several other places on the net. I ended up getting a really good bargain on the El Ray, about 10-15 bux cheaper than I could find it selling for anywhere else.

thot i posted a reply to gihuff last nite. mustve been tired. it disappeard. mebbe its in the sports forum. anyway, the two little plastic humifiers work fine. fill with 50-50 pg and distilled water the first time. after that refill with distilled water only, when they get dried out. personally, i am not sure i even need a hygrometer anymore. i charge the humifiers once in a while and dont worry about it too much. cigars are doing fine. had a great jr ult out of the el rey this morning after breakfast. clouds of smoke. egad. ahem. hrrrrmmmmmmph.

POV, what did you pay for your El Rey? I have been thinking about picking up a another large Humi - I currently have a Presidente style, kind of like the one on CI's regular site but with a larger Hygrometer. I just ordered a Cigar Oasis for it and am waiting for it to arrive. I gots lots of $$ sitting in there and want to make sure the environment stays primo. -- Anyone else have an Oasis yet? Also---Digital Hygro is a good idea! I am waiting to pounce on one here provided I can get a couple for less than other places. ;o)
