Got my first shipment yesterday.> Was a little dissapointed that the R&J churchills tubes shipped in a zip lock bag were crushed
> Had to open the tubes to check on the gars which seemed to be ok> Rest of the order, which are boxes was intact.>
Has anyone else had this problem?

I have received two shipments so far and have been very pleased with the packing and care used in shipping the cigars.

Was the outside container damaged? In either case I would contact CB and voice your feelings to them! They seem to be dedicated to good customer relations.

Thank you for your concern and prompt reply.
As I stated. the cigars themselves were not damaged, the tubes were just a little banged up.
Having smoked one already (very good I might add),I dont feel the need to return the cigars. The tubes are expendable and I plan to use them as humi-sticks by filling them with oasis foam and perforating the tubes.
So as it turned out it is not a loss at all.
Once again thank you for your efforts and your prompt response.
If any one else has thought of this use,(humi-sticks)for the tubes let me know how it worked out. It seems like a good way
to recycle the tubes
Thanks again Trish for your quick response

You're welcome Trish! You guys are great! :o)

Glad everything worked out El! I haven't used tubes for a humi-stick before, but it sounds like a good idea and definitely cheaper than buying the manufacturered version!

Don't use Oasis Foam ... get some Climmax Beads, they work much better. Yes ... these are hydroscopic beads that are used in top end humidification units, and can be bought by the pound.

Did you say "Climax Beads"? I guess I've lived a sheltered life; I don't know what these are or certainly where to get them. Do I have to drive to the outskirts of town to the peep show to get some? Sounds like a good idea, though, and if I decide I need them for their intended purpose, using them in a humidor is a great excuse for getting some!

If you have a computer, they are easily found using a search engine such as Google ...

They are called Climmax Beads (if you search for climax beads (one 'm'), and you will get those other 'thingys' ...

Climmax beads are a modified amorphous silica gel that actively absorbs and releases moisture along a hysterisis loop, maintaining a 70% relative humidity environment. It works using only water (distilled ... no PG).

The Premier™ Media is now offered separately from their Premier™ humidifiers. It's great for those who own home-made Igloodors and larger cabinet-sized humidors who want greater flexibility. The media is only sold in 1 pound increments, and will provide precise humidification control at 5 cubic feet per pound. The media works best in a water-tight, open top container and placed inside your humidor. The media will maintain a constant 70 - 72% humidity and is re-conditioned by adding distilled water over the top of the media.

Cost is just under $30 a pound ...

I would post the link ... but then I would have to come back on and 'jump all over' myself for posting a competing website (after all, CI/CB does sell many forms of humidification) ... hehehe!

That could get really ugly. It would be the thread that never ended ... 😉

Understood! Sounds interesting.

I will definitely investigate these further. Thanks!

Slim, Thanks for the info..but is there a reason other than climmax beads are better that I should not use oasis foam. After all I got a large brick of oasis from the florist for just smiling at the girl and looking lost. Its enough foam for about 20 humi-sticks. I was thinking of making a bunch up and handing em out to friends. I also have an idea to make salt and pepper shakers out of two tubes,or is that going too far?

Hey, whatever 'floats your boat'. Be creative!

I know an individual at another BB that collected the glass tubes to give to the retirement home.

I guess they were doing some sort of crafts with them, probably making Christmas ornaments.

Oasis foam (as long it is the wet foam, not the dry foam) works great, and if you've got it ... use it. If it is the dry foam ... it's pretty useless ...

Thanks again. I was just confused by your response of "Don't use Oasis" thinking that something horrible would happen. Like it would destroy my mind, curve my spine and lose the war for the allies.
Yes I did ask for the wet foam and she even volunteered to pre-wet it for me,what a girl!!
Now I have to go to the veternairan and get a gallon of PG for 5 bucks. How's that for being cheap. But then why else would I be on CB

El, those R&J tubes you want to transform into HumiTubes, are they made from aluminum? I've made myself a HumiTube from a plastic tube (Vega Fina) and this works fine. I've avoided the alu/metal ones 'cos I were afraid the metal wouldn't work well (in the long run). ANY FEEDBACK ON THIS?

Hansen, yes the are aluminum..but since they are not cast aluminum or billet I dont think corrosion is a problem. If thats what your concern is. Since they store their cigars in them they must be able to take the humidity. Aluminum also works well holding my beer ,but I cant fit a Yeugling can in my dor, might be an option for a cooler-dor.I guess time will tell. I do have a few plastic tubes but some how puting a Garcia Y Vega blue tube in my dor just dosent seem right. Kinda think the RyJ tubes are more classy
IMHO
