Here's a list of dogrockets we all can add to, a "ratings/review list" of sorts (as requested by Aberdeen)...Please add what cigars you believe are dogrockets (opinions vary with each herfer of course)...I'll start:..I think that generally Indian Tabac's lines (except for the Super Fuertes and Cameroon Legends..these both are excellent!...I wonder who actually makes them? 😃 ) are total garbage...One dimensional flavor, crappy construction, and a horrible finish...Sorry Rocky!..Just my opinion of course!...Let's keep this thread going peeps!

i bought some indiad tabac and gave all (except the one i tried to smoke) away to someone eho enjoy's them. i rarely find a cigar so bad i can't smoke it. years ago i bought 4 cigars in vegas at the vegas cigar something. two were regular and two were the sweet ones. on puff of the regular and it was in the toilet. the sweet one lasted long enough for me to taste. the cigar had been sprayed with sugar water. the store is gone, so no chance anyone will try them. i also got a don something from a rep at a cigar store. i don't remember don who, so i never buy cigars that start with don. right now i am acidifying 190 el gozo's. they are in my cooler chest with acid leaves and in a year they should be el gozo acids. i'm one of the guys that likes acids, but than i am a liberal, bleeding heart, pinko, so what the hell do i know.

The Fighting **** Smokin' Lulu is easily the worst smoke I have ever had. Like used cat litter rolled in mildewed newspaper. No, even that would be better than this cigar.

Thomas Hinds Robusto's (unless of course you like a cigar that tastes like a mouthfull of unsalted boiled peanuts).

I had a 5-pack of IT that I liked a lot, really toothy wrapper, good burn, aroma, flavors. So go know.

Worst cigar I ever bought on cbid was Caleyes churchill. First two were completely plugged, would barely even catch fire. They looked good, all covered with sparkles like they were well-aged. Hey Davey, did you get smoke out of any of those yet?

The only bad cigars I have had were the La Estrella Cubana. This was years before Cbid started selling these. They tasted good but they were so tight you couldnt get any smoke from them even after the poker. I actually went to a hardware store to look for a long skinny drill bit. I just stay away from this brand now. I notice the price for these is kinda low so has anyone tried them recently?
Be aware. I have almost finished a box of Savanna Slims. I love them for driving home from work. It is hard to find a small cigar that can take bursts of 70mph wind without losing its wrapper.

Ooops forgot... From what I hear you can send your dogs to DaveyG if you can't stand em. Send me any torpedo unless its flavored.

flavored cigars ... I simply cannot stand flavored tobacco ... some time back, I thought that if one were to flavor cigars oneself, it might turn out better ... I got two flavoring jars, charged one up with some really good rum, the other with tequilla ... put about 8 or 10 fairly neutral tasing cigars into each jar and sealed 'em up ... results were not good ... I tried adding more flavoring, leaving them longer (to the point they were almost DAMP from the process) ... no way, even after dry-boxing them for a bit, that I could smoke any of them. I gave them to my neighbor one at a time (he'll smoke ANYthing that's free) to get rid of them.

so, if you like flavored cigars, just stay downwind from me, would you?

Steve,For some reason it doesn't work that way. I bought some gars that were flavored W/50 yr old Cognac. I smoked one and couldn't detect any Cognac taste to it at all. I decided to add some of my Cognac to the ceder surrounding the remaining gar I had left. The results were not good. My conclusion,Let the experts do it. X

X, I got a bottle of pretty damn good cognac at the house right now ... what say we pour some in a glass, light up a non-flavored cigar and add the flavor by sipping from the glass, then puffing on the cigar ... that'll work, doncha think? come on by and we'll give it a try ...

Like some apples, some cigars are better than others. The traits of a good cigar might vary between smokers but not among their favorite smokes. When I first started smoking cigars, every one I tried was good. With several thousand brands to choose from I could have gone on like that for years. However, no one was giving me free smokes like they do for the editor of a famous catalog we all know. So when it comes between laying money down for a piece of lemon meringue pie at Pitt's Corner Grill in Corpus Christi (pie that always tastes great) or a cigar (which might not), there's a strong incentive to at least begin to develop preferences, a sort of "know thyself" strategy. I think that's where I went wrong. Because after a while each cigar tasted as good or worse than the last one. But some were lots better, really better, heads and shoulders better...now I look on cigar smoking like my first kiss, it wasn't love but it was thrilling. I can't badmouth any of the fine smokes that got me to the place where I wouldn't spend a dollar on them.

agreed ... no regrets here either ... and I've developed those preferences for an absolute fact ... of course, as in so many other things, my preferences tend to develop on the champagne cost side while the budget tends to be stuck far too strongly at the beer level ... lol

...Plato was right, there is an ideal Good. It is found in nature the same way great cities are located near large rivers, except Los Angeles because they like to be different.

Am I then to infer that good cigars are to be found near the river?

While I wouldn't call these dogrockets, in fact they are actually great tasting cigars, but their contruction SUCKS to the point that I will never buy another box.

FD GRAVE & SONS

These are very good tasting cigars IF you can find one that isn't PLUGGED! I bought a new box recently of Churchills and so far, one out of every (2) smokes is CLOGGED. I can feel the plug which is usually up by the band. When I get a good one they are very tasty, but I can no longer hang with the inconsistent nature of these smokes. I had heard that the problem had been addressed so I gave them one last try, but not according to the box I just bought. :o(

The Fidalgo was an awful experience. They must be spray painted as they bled on my fingers, lips, everything they touched. The taste wasn't that bad, but the experience was like a close encounter with Mr. Hanky the Chrstmas Poo.
