Seems the house minority leader is wishing for 4 more months of corporate scandal so the dems can regain the House. Now that's putting America First. Liberal Style.

That's a good point. But you do realize that the accounting fraud which has crippled the confidence in our economy is not something which began when Dubya swore into Office, don't you? Over the last 10 years, Corporations simply found Loop Holes and alternate definitions of everyday words to juice the books. Now where do you suppose they got the idea that you could get away with such a thing?

dishonest and contemptable behavior preceeds both Dubya and Bubba by a long, long time ... recounting how much I feel that I've seen this sort of behavior grow in every segment of society makes me feel old and grouchy ...

I take a certain amount of hope from a newspaper editorial I read 30 years ago ... I lived in SoCal at the time and the Register reprinted this particular editorial from a Philidelphia paper ... in it, the writer went on a great length, excoriating the president for his unethical, and even illegal actions and urging voters to consider these things on election day come fall ...

It was with no small surprise that in the fine print at the end of the editorial, I noticed the article was NOT talking about RMN as I and all the other readers had thought ... this particular reprint was from the year 1804 and the sitting president under fire was Thomas Jefferson.

I guess the author had no idea that Jefferson was destined to be regarded as highly as he is, with his visage on Mt Rushmore, the $2 bill and the nickel ... this is not to say that either Bubba or Dubya will find themselves regarded as highly as Jefferson now is, but to say that historical perspective has a way of often being a lot different than the short view ... in my lifetime, I've seen the view of Truman, Kennedy and Carter change greatly from that which prevailed while they were in office, although a lot less so for Ike, Johnson, Nixon or Ford. It remains to be seen how the presidents since them will be viewed, given a longer perspective, but it's pretty safe to say that all of them will look better in the rear view mirror than they did in the harsh light of real time.

I don't like Gephart or Daschle. They are grandstanders. I stand by my prediction that bad things are in store for Cheney. I believe the President will elude scandal. The allegations about Harken have merit but are weak. It is also too long gone to get the public in a tizzy. Cheney (the evil duke) will fall. Who will GW appoint to replace him?

I don't even see how Gephard can stand Gephard. Does even his mother like him? That would be mother's love in its purest form.

Rick, a former Pres has never been a VP. But there is nothing stopping it. There have been former Pres's as congressmen and senators. I think GW owes his brother Jeb though. Or maybe Dan Quayle?

The point of the thread was to predict the behavior of the Democrats through the elections. Watch how they dwell on corporate fraud and pointing fingers rather than trying to stimulate consumer confidence. All to get the necessary votes. Shameful. No one with half a brain has ever given either side credit for being overly ethical, but to dessimate the economy in the name of winning an election is beyond contempt. ****** needs to be castrated...

tailgater --i do believe the economy is what one might call decimated already by the current administration--calling attention to it and it's cause is a little more in our interest than saying clinton got a BJ.
