This is one of the oldest tricks in the cigar world ... and has been going on since the cigar BB's and forums started.

A so called 'newbie' comes on board asking for someone to bomb him, trade him, etc., only that individual is NOT a 'newbie' ...

... just a 'scam artist' out looing for what he can take from generous peoples humidors. I've seen it happen time and time again over the years.

ANYONE asking for someone to send them free cigars (bombs etc.) should be suspect ... and avoided completely.

Don't fall for these jerks ... anyone asking to be bombed has no class.

as a new member of cbid i would like to respond.
i'm alway's willing to send my end first...and have offered too.
i have requested that if a member didn't care for a certain kind of cigar i would be more than willing to accept it. as there's plenty i have not tried and would like to make a personal opinion.
i've not "asked" to be bombed outright...which i'm assuming your speaking of.
i'm actually hoping i'm fitting in here as i am enjoying the friendship and the chance to interact with more people than i even care to around here at home!
i intend on sticking around , as long as you all can accept me for who i am!
i kid around a bit too much at times but i've also took a good amount of kidding as well!
sometimes it is tough to destinguish between someone being serious and just kidding.
so slim , am i one of the negative ones of which you speak?

i have gotten that feeling from a few of the guys, too. as did dup. but i think dup earns his keep. i would vote him newbie of the year, if i had a vote...lions and smokedog are good men in my books as well. they round out the top 3.

and there is a REALLY new guy with GREAT sticks, what is his name--RICK3985...honorable mention?

course, that is just me. i think they got their votes based on time, too. but that rick is a mover and a shaker. i got nothin but love for all of them.

I am a newbie too, and always looking for a few good cigars. I'm trying to get away from the wood and plastic tipped cigars, which I can't find on this site.

Slim: Definitely agree with you strongly on this point. I have seen it in other Forums, BB, and even some Herf's and cigar shows. I too, was burnt in the past, but it seems like times have changed. In the past, some use to give sad stories or some sort of intro to be bombed. Now, out of nowhere, people just say "bomb me". WTF!
Doesn't work that way, at least in my book and my circle of friends, BOTL, SOTL, etc.

Though I have been please with the majority of new folks in this Forum. Many seem to be fine BOTL/SOTL, who will make good contribution to this Forum. People should beware of the scam's or 'pseudo-newbie'.

I believe what Slim is posting is true, and he means to avoid the type of incidents that have happened in the past, yes, there have been snakes who slither in and steal, and loot what they can and then slither out! Reenter under a different handle and try and try again!
