i have just completed my second bad trade. i sent off some good ISOMs for some BAD stock...some had to be tossed. others were dry and breaking apart. had to open sealed tubes to let the moisture in. and 1, and this is my favorite in a BAD way, had mold on it--why? well, it looked like someone rehydrated it by spraying water on it.

had a cigar expert tell me this, when looking at the package. he was there when it arrived.

i am thinking about disclosing the names. the first one offered to paypal me the cost of what i sent...i know nothing of paypal, so i let it go...PLUS, in his defense, the mail got bounced back to him--though he did not put the cigars in a ziplock bag. my expert says it would have taken 2 weeks in the back window of a car in the texas summer to make them that dry.

the second guy...well, i am irrate. hope he reads this while i am at work and makes some sort of ammends...and there appear to be missing some of the most premium cigars promised.

see you guys in about 10 hours...the clock is ticking, Alabama.

Man, that sucks. I vote you rat them out so we all know not to do trades with them.... But, then again, my sticks took almost two weeks to get to you burgess, so i don't really have an arguement... I will say, i have only had one bad trade on this board. I sent my fiver and still haven't gotten anything back. Two unanswered e-mails, and he is still posting. I just let it go, so? What to do....?????

Deal with your issues privately.

No reason to go public until you have had no success doing that. Give them a chance to make it right. Maybe they aren't reading emails in the next 10 hours, it's not fair for you to call in the lynch mob until they've had a chance to deal with it.

If it is as bad as you say, then blow the whistle on the person who sent the dried up cigars to you! That is pure crap! I would be mad as well, I always try to make sure that when I send a PIF, I increase the number above the 5 and do not send crappy cigars! Most folks I have dealt with will agree! There are BOTLs like Pablo, Slimboli, Jimmy (myash07), K9cop, Stefan, Ram, TrannyMk, Const33, Rick3985,Homebrew, PuffDaddy, DapperDan, MACS, Echo4alpha, just to name a few who go out of their way to send bombs, PIF's, trades, etc with care and do not expect a return on Bombs, but are always considerate of others!

You can always trade with most brothers on this board and get quality for quality and other stuff, like shirts, books, cutters, lighers, etc.......they should know who the bad guys are! So do not feel bad to finger one!

Charlie

PS I am sorry if I left out some of you I have dealt with, I know I did, but sorry!

Uh, if somebody won't answer your e-mails and is still posting here, please out him. Be polite about it -- it could be a misunderstanding -- but keep the rest of us in mind. We don't want to get hosed.

I have been posting on this board for many years, and can count the times I have been burned on one hand.

Yes it happens, but I like to think I come away learning something from the experience. One about the person, and also about getting a stranger's box first, and only then send your side. I trust almost all of the old timers on this site, and have never been burned by any of the names you see here year after year.

As far as fragin' the guy that burnt ya. Unless your sure it was with cold, calculated intent, let it slide. Many folks are here to learn and may not fully understand how to care for a cigar.

Live, learn, smoke more good cigars.

ALSO... in the dry cold of the winter, cigars can go dry in just a short time.

So pack them up good!

Folks, if you are not happy with a trade, you should not let it go, you should talk to the person you traded with. There are a thousand old threads discussing giving the other person the benefit of a few weeks to respond, etc. etc.
You should only "out" someone as a last resort. Most outings in the past ended up being unnecessary.

Not discouraging you from comapring notes, but, give the person a chance to make it good.

I recently received an order of a ten pack of 5 Vegas. I almost put a few in a little bomb I was sending the same day. By chance I enclosed some other cigars.

The next day I took the 5 Vegas sticks out of the plastic bags . . . every one of the ten were dry and cracked, some coming apart including the binder. This was two days after the order arrived. I bought them from one of the best vendors.

I would have been sick if I had sent them to a brother. I'm communicating with the vendor to remedy the situation.

The next day I received a bomb from another brother - all the sticks were beautiful, except one 5 Vegas which looked just like the ones in my order. I'm sure the sender had no idea the cigar was cracked (it was hard to see inside the cello).

Is it possible the generous sender of your bomb didn't know they were bad? Please let him know and give him a chance to make it right.

The guys that are saying to make sure and give this person a chance are right! They are more level headed than I am and I agree with them....do not just expose the guy unless he tells you to hose off or just doesn't respond to your efforts to correct the situation! Give him a chance, and yes I have gotten dry cigars (Heaven forbid) from cigarbid and from J & R and other places, one thing about cbid/cinternational, they make it right!

THIS is EXACTLY why I send out RAOK and do NOT get involved in trading unless a deal is struck beforehand.

With a RAOK there is nothing but good feelings and no ill will toward anyone. You send out smokes to whom you want to because you want to and expect nothing in return.

I agree with chuckler, unless you get no response, and your sure this was intended let it go. Maybe the guy just dosent know much about cigars.

I have a group of freinds who brought some isom's back from mexico, they had them out of humidification for at least a year. When they were smoking them they said they were the best they had ever had.

Totally unaware of how revolting it was for me.
sniff sniff poor little cubans, they probebly had the harts of champions. But by the luck of the draw they ended up in some guys sock drawer.

It's always good to give someone a chance to do a little "damage control" before you take the next step. If nothing is resolved, then "out him." It's good for everyone. He should then be required to send out his end of all trades first, to reestablish his reputation.
Just my opinion.

"see you guys in about 10 hours...the clock is ticking, Alabama."

where are you coming to in alabama?

*********threadjack off****************

now, on the subject of bad cigars.......

i would e-mail them and give them a chance to respond. IF then i was not pleased with the outcome i would take further action. i know i have a list of "do not trade with" people and when asked i will tell who i recommend and who i would stay away from..

my advice.......always ask a vet before trading with someone and sending out good sticks....or run the risk every trade......

And . . . . good advice I was given (and heeded) from a vet . . . . "If in any doubt, ask the new guy (or unproven trader) if he would mind beginning the trade by sending his end first. If he is reluctant, that will tell you something. No honest trader should mind sending his end first. And of course, the advice given above is good advice, and easy to do. Find a vet who has experience with the brother in question and get his recommendation before sending a nice package of pricey cigars.

I agree with the above...see if they'll fix er up, if not, i think everyone should know, particularly if there is more than one person that has been taken advtg of and decided to "let it slide." If there is a repeat offender following similar patterns of non-response after a lousy trade the public needs to know so the problem will cease.
