i read the newbie info posts, and i did most of what was said, but i failed in a few areas, too. since i am the newbie, i thought i should send my end first. we sent at the same time. i got jacked. not all the cigars agreed upon were there. most were dried out. it left a worse taste in my mouth than a Thomas Hinds pooch projectile!

so, instead of adding to the already WELL-WRITTEN and useful info as post number 238 (since no one reads past 50 anyway), i thought i would add some new info that is helpful.

1) when you see a trade that seems too good to be true, it probably is.
2) when you see a trade proposed by a guy, type his/her name in the Search the Boards username area...choose all forums and click last 3 months. if he does not have 50 hits, get his end first (though you are a newbie and feel obliged to send first).
3) LEAVE THE CELLO ON! i do not understand why people have this debate...it retains moisture better, especially if you are gonna MAIL them in trades.
4) put EVERYTHING you send in ziplock bags--even those nice smiley ones that cbid gives you.
5) if you do not know the guy you are trading with, ask others via email (and email addresses seem to be on EVERY thread) what they know.
6) ASK questions. except for the cello question because i will smack you back to 1982! LEAVE them ON! (unless you do not want to trade, then you can wrap them in aluminum foil for all we care).
7) you want to trade, ask people named DUP, TUCKERSDAD, ANDYTV, SLI38, SLIM, BARON, TANK, DEADEYEDICK, DA CHIEF, JREDLEG, xXxHOSSxXx, USAHOG, BASSDUDE, RICK3985, PABLO, HOMEBREW, THOM, MIKECOOK, HARLEYDAVE, GANDOLF, BUDDHADADDY, KDOTLINE, GOODY, ICYO, JJMD, LOWMAN, DRNOS, EMGJET, SPADESMAN, SMOKEDOG7, ECHO, RAM, BLOODY SPANIARD, ERKWGZ, KCODY, STEVE02, LIONS, CIGARHUSKER, GONESLEDN, and there are others that i have forgotten to mention. but, if you trade with these guys and are let down, email me, i will send you a package. it is as close to a guarantee as you are gonna get. handle at yahoo dot com.

this is all i have for now. the other post has great advice like no PO Boxes (but as i have a PO Box, it is not always right). please read past 50, as i am sure more good info is on the way.

most guys/gals on this board will go overboard to make you feel welcome. you can have my word on that, too. one last piece of advice to add to your enjoyment here.
8) if you wanna love EVERYone on this board, stay off the miscellaneous board...there are some grenades launched there.

cello fetish?

Remember not all sticks have cello - so take those and either place in single baggies or place in a 5 pack baggie and tightly wrap and tape it.

i have gotten a few offers of sticks from some great guys. i decline, but i am extremely appreciative. i am not one of those free-ride "BOMB ME" kinda guys. and with a name like baron, i KNOW that i cannot hang in a bombing.

seriously, i appreciate the love...i just wanna educate. the bad thing is this guy has posted over 70 times in the past 3 months...how was i to know?

Great information, too bad we can't trust everybody out there to have the same enthusiasm and involvment in the cigar world as some of us.

Burgess_B,

Some of us BOTL that have been around awhile take the wrappers of our cigars, because because we like to let them sit in our cedar lined humi's.
Then we let them sit before we trade them, thus knowing they are in good shape. Then we tend to bag them up properly.
The cigars that do not come with wrappers on is by Manufactors choice.
So if you ever get cigars from me they will tend to be not in a wrapper, unless I put one on before shipping.
Just me 2 cents. Kim(HV1)

Don't worry about anything, burgess.... This is a forum, where everyone is entitled to an opinion, and everyone is entitled to rant once in a while....

All very nice, but not needed! One thing that you point out is cello, that is an age old argument....gee ISOM's have no cello, so get a clue if someone says, "got some nice ISOMs for you and they are wrapped in cello"!

I have been here for over 6 years and in that time we have "outed" the bad seeds, and we do not need to start a Villager (like in Frankenstein movies) mob to get them! The post yesterday, that I participated in as well, was not needed! Turns out it may have been more hurtful than necessary, but that is water under the bridge.

Let's move on and always say when making a trade, would I like to get these in return! Bombs are something that is a little different...that is a gesture, where nothing is really expected back...many times they come back at twice the strength as the one yo sent! Now I am rambling, but just think of others!

charlie...one minor exception to cello and isoms.
i "have known" some to use cello's to put thier isoms in to better protect them.

they smoke a cigar and save the cello , just in case they need a celo later.......so-to-speak!
