Fuente King B

Approx. 6 x 54, announced at RTDA 2005. This cigar comes in a single row box of 18. It's close to the Fuente Sun Grown Cuban Belicoso in size but looks a little thicker. It has the black ribbon on the foot and black sticker on the box that indicates a sun grown wrapper, but this one is reputed to be an Ecuadorian "cloud-grown" Rosado wrapper from the Oliva family.

The construction was nearly perfect as is the case with most Fuente cigars. I clipped the head about 1/2" and noticed right away that the draw was tight. This may be due to the humidity being too high as this was the 1st I had been able to find and it was fresh from my local who would only sell one per customer.

After a few puffs I reclipped to open about 5/8" and the smoke poured out nicely. Burn was razor straight for the whole 90 minutes with a somewhat flacky white/grey ash.

The flavor started out with pepper and spice but was fairly straight forward robust tobacco other than that. I was looking for that toothy, sweet, rich flavor that the old AF858 Rosado from 2003 developed but did not find it.

While this is a very good cigar now, I'm thinking it needs time to develope it's potential. I don't remember that old Rosie being an exceptional cigar at first but it has developed into a much sought-after gem with age.
