I think my taste buds are freaking out. About a week ago I smoked a Perdomo cigar that had a slightly salty taste. I've heard of that before so I thought nothing of it. But this weekend I smoked a Torano Signature and It was really salty. So much so that everything I tasted, tasted of salt. I thought that since I had had pasta before that maybe my taste buds were off. I gave myself a rest for a day or so. But Saturday AM I sat down to a La Luna MF Colada and a coffee and that was salty too. So was the Perdomo Parejo that I had after lunch, which was a meat & potatoes meal. The CAO X I had this morning was the same and my mouth is still salty tasting even after lunch.

What's up with that? Do you think it's me or is it my cigars? Have you ever heard of this before? Could I have contaminated my stash? Help!

sounds like the woman of the house doesn't want you to smoke anymore...
also, if your hamburgers start to taste like "**** & span", stop eating home cooked meals.

I'd almost believe that, but the Torano never made it home. It was in my office humidor.

You might be suffering from Sodiumcholridititis which is similiar to Yeastyclitorus but different. These cigars are from different humidors so the problem is you. At least you can eat unsalted french fries now.

Were you ever in the Navy, they sometimes refer to old sailors as old salts. Seriously go to a doctor, it might be your body trying to tell you something. JonR

Well, I found a disease called phantogeusia (an abnormal taste in the mouth, usually metallic or salty)
It seems to be caused by a viral infection and I just got over a cold.

An interesting thought about the salt taste is that the different tastes (e.g. salty, sour, etc.) are tasted by different taste buds on different areas of the tongue.

If your smoking or hot liquid drinking has killed off taste buds disproportionately from the non salt areas you would be left with an unbalanced number of salt tasting taste buds.

Try not smoking, drinking hot liquids, eating hot sauces, etc. for at least four days. The lining of the mouth and gut turns over about every three days. So, in four days you should see a normalizing of your tases.

If you don't, see your doctor.
