Send a nice package to Victory Cigar Club, in Baghdad. They should (at least IMHO) return fire with some club swag.

I believe engletl has a current address.

Aye. I've done that (a couple of times, I think).

Frankly, no big deal. I'm just happy they have cigars and the opportunity to get together and enjoy them. I've been deployed myself and it's these moments that help make the time away from home more bearable. I just thought they might be for sale from someone and I could buy one.

First - Thank you for putting you a$$ on the line protecting our freedom. I can't thank you enough for that.

Second - What is a Baghdad cigar club? Is it where you go to smoke cigars? Is it a membership thing?

There are three cigar clubs that I know of in Baghdad - Victory, Slayer, and Cropper. VCC has a facebook page and Slayer has a website. They both have a lifetime membership. The fee may have changed since I departed Iraq, but when I was there, the fee at Slayer was $50 - that included a golf shirt embroidered with the club logo. AT VCC, the fees were $10 (all E-5 and below were free), $30 - included a club t-shirt, and $50 - included an embroidered golf shirt.

The clubs operated differently. Cropper held their meetings in an area that had restricted access. I could only attend as a sponsored guest. At Slayer, members signed in and were given the cigar of the night. Non-members had to bring their own. At VCC, the had the members special cigar, but anyone who showed up got a smoke (or 2, or 3).

There were many folks who were members of both VCC and Slayer. VCC met every 2 weeks, on Sat. Slayer met every Sat.

As to where to go tho smoke cigars, I smoked 'em pretty much anywhere.

So they were more or less social clubs with a cigar theme. And membership privileges. Could you drink in there? Was it a problem drinking in Baghdad.? I guess not once you occupy the place you can make the rules, right?

Definitely social clubs. You can drink anything there - as long as it does not contain alcohol.

Sad but probably a good thing since I would imagine if you are anywhere in Iraq and you're an American soldier you are pretty much on duty 24/7.
